There is a big difference between FDX Express and FDX Ground.. yes, you have to specify which one you want. if you just say "cheapest", then you will most likely get FDX Ground. And for every bad FDX delivery story, there is at least that many for UPS, etc..
If you want it quick, pay more and use Express. Keep in mind that UPS is a trucking company with a few airplanes and FDX is an airplane company with a few trucks.. |

I’ve found over the years of shipping and I tend to ship a lot the usps is the worst but by far the cheapest. Ups damages more things are are a pain to collect insurance on. They are also the most expensive.
FedEx for me has always been the best except for cost. Their less than ups but more than usps. I ship nothing usps even though they are sometimes way less than half the price of fedex or ups. Their tracking system stinks and their people are rude and unhelpful. I ship nothing ups I only ship fedex Just my experiences. Tony |
I have horror stories from UPS and FedEx. Overall both are about what once can expect from shipping companies. It of course all comes down to the employees. Some driver that has been out on deliveries for 12 hours has no time to be careful, it is about volume.
We received one box from UPS that truly looked like they tied it to a truck and drug it behind the truck from the warehouse for several miles. I can't imagine how it was so beat up. We had a FedEx, early AM we need it right now, hurry hurry, money no object get it to our business before 8:30 AM. They delivered it to some crack house several miles away. They wanted us to go get it. We explained we were charged a lot of money for a deliver before 8:30 AM and it was already 9:15 and we are not in the shipping business. A supervisor went and got it and brought it to us. And they still wanted to be paid full price for the delivery. |
There is definitely a joke or two in this thread title.....SmileWavy

Fed Ex to Canada from the USA?
that will ruin one's day, big time. taxes upon taxes upon handling fees. smaller purchases? under 100? - quite often nearly doubles the final price tag. smaller purchases are never taxed, at all - with any other carrier. |

Airborne Express had a major hub in Wilmington, Ohio in the 80's and 90's. They were a major employer in the community. Except for the workers showing up for work the place would be dark in the evening and you could hear crickets until about midnight. Then the runway lights would come on and pretty soon you could see landing lights stacked up like stair steps in the sky, as far as you could see. They landed 100 airplanes a day, mostly between midnight and dawn. People would go out at midnight to watch the show. DHL bought Airborne and crashed the company within 5 years. They closed operations in Wilmington completely. Talk about a pissed off community. |
Okay, maybe it will come tomorrow, maybe I say.

I got a Fed Ex delivery today. Was on my driveway doing some stuff and he pulls up. I walk over. he hands me the package. I say thanks. He drives off. He didn't even have to get out of his truck.
All well and good. But here's the kicker..... The item was a 2.5 gal. jug of insecticide I ordered last month and after 2 weeks with no indication it would be shipped, I called and cancelled. Got the cancellation confirmation email and everything. That was last month on the 26th. I checked and they did charge my CC and I did receive the insecticide and it is what I originally wanted so bottom line is all ended up OK. But that was weird. |

At the company I worked at last we had a top of the line, very state of the art, $500,000 Wild RC30 calibrated aerial camera that had to go back to the one man in North America that could service it every three years. The camera system weighed just shy of 500 pounds. We had to secure it in the very nice custom padded shipping boxes the camera was delivered in. We had to strap it to a pallet and call FedEx ground to haul it to Canada.
We would hire a private insurance broker to insure the camera and it had shock sensors on it to let us know if it took a blow. The paperwork to send it across the border, be serviced, and returned was insane. Both borders wanted extensive pages of information. It was not shipped back to us directly, we had to ship it to the USGS in the states for them to perform the calibration and produce a few page report. All of the shipping, service and calibration cost us 20 grand every three years. FedEx Freight was one of few shippers that would touch the shipment. We had to do that several times and everything was fine. Expensive, but fine. |

this was a shirt i order at the same time i did another and the one from new jersey arrived USPS 3 days ago. got a message from amazon today that package should arrive now between the 10 and 15 after it was slated for delivery yesterday even with it being 70 miles away. can't file with amazon now till after the 15th. i wish amazon sellers had to declare who their shipper is before ordering. id choose more wisely. |
AWESOME. my phone texted and said i am to get my package delivered to the store location today.
the website states it will be delivered tomorrow. AND..the history on the same website says it is at the STORE!! three different histories. AWESOME. |

And again, if you create a FedEx account, you can sign up with their Delivery Manager feature/app, which allows you to schedule deliveries, redirect packages, will-call, and even "digitally" sign for packages. |
This should be interesting. I ordered some stuff from a specialty manufacturer in rural Kansas. Supposed to be here in 2 days. I'm thinking Monday.

The store had my package despite their own website telling them they get it tomorrow. I begged him to go look he was shocked it’s there.
And my bass pro order? Shows “ left on porch”. Guess what? No package !!! I’m in pain mentally. :) |
I HATE FEDEX TOO......... same reason !

You can sign up for status updates at USPS.com, which will notify you once it's actually scanned into the system (and en-route). |
