Richthofen's Flying Circus is Back...

The hummingbird migration is in full swing it seems. Had 7 or 8 at once this morning swirling around and fighting over 1 feeder. Amazing to watch one bird (we always name Attila) try to fend off 4 or 5 other hummers from the feeder.

With 2 feeders out we went through a full quart of high octane hummingbird fuel yesterday.

Our flower gardens had numerous hummers buzzing around. There are lots of flowers, but a the fighting over territory was heavy. They are amazing to watch.

Sitting on my deck on a sunny day this summer...I looked down and there was a hummingbird almost sitting on my elbow. I thought that was strange..until I realized I had an almost full beer can in my hand. They must like IPA's.

We still have a few humming birds left in Michigan..

Not for long I fear.

Same here in Ohio. They are swarming around the feeders, tanking up for the big trip.

We've had 1 male and 3 females visiting all summer visiting our two feeders. My wife swears she can tell the difference - and there are definitely 4 of them - and who am I to argue!
