Very clean 1971 BMW 3.0CS 4-Speed

Just happened to see this because of the '78 Accord thread... looking at the thumbnails.

This is pretty much one of my top dream cars.

https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1971-bmw-3-0cs-2/

When I clicked, the bid was $107K. I looked at the listing, then noticed the bidding was about to end.

I refreshed and it went to $147 or so and the last seconds were ticking off.

I refreshed again and it was $78K.

I refreshed a coupla more times and it jumped back and forth... even after time had run out.

How does that happen? People can withdraw their bids? Does shill bidding happen on BaT?

It's now sitting at $151K.

I've watched a lot of BAT auctions end and never seen that issue. Sounds more like a browser cache issue with all the refreshes. You can scroll through the comments and see who placed what bid and at what time. Doesnt look like any funny business.

Thanks to the extensive weight saving programme 3.0 CSLs tipped the scales at 1165kg, some 210kg less than the standard 3.0 CS / CSi. Quoted performance figures were a top speed of 140mph and 0-62mph time of 6.7 seconds.

The CSL road car’s engine was bored from 89mm to 89.25mm and displacement rose by 18cc to 3003cc. Compression was kept at 9.5:1 as per the standard CSi while the original Zenith carbs were replaced with electronic Bosch fuel-injection. Peak output rose from 178bhp at 6000rpm to 200bhp at 5500rpm. There was also a useful torque increase with 204lb ft now on top at 4300rpm.

Don't even know if I have taken 15 million breaths in my lifetime let alone having 15 million dollars.

While not an E9 chassis car, I currently own CSi and in the process of really going through (new leather, paint, mechanicals etc) it with plans of listing it on BaT this the fall.

Its a '79 Euro CSi with a M90, you BMW lovers will appreciate the "M90" part.
