AC Soft Start Device

Does anyone have a soft-start device for their AC? Seems like something worth doing.

Thoughts?

Thx!

I just purchased an Airgo G3. Waiting for its arrival to install. It makes sense to me based on the research I have done. I do not have a generator at the house, I just want a nice smooth start of the compressor.

Nothing that fancy, but my Waterfurnace Geothermal has a soft start on the compressor. How do I know? It failed after about 9 1/2 years. Lucky me, the Waterfurnace has a 10 year warranty.

The repair guy showed up and I told him the soft start failed. He looked at me kind of weird and started troubleshooting things. About 30 minutes later, he says "What do you know, the soft start is what failed." Duh. I wasn't born yesterday.

Yes. Installed them myself years ago. Do they work? IDK for sure, but going on year 12 with my units.

I had them on both of my old AC outside units, Don't know if thy were worth it but my HVAC tech certainly highly recommended them.

But i also replaced them W/ heat pumps ~5yrs later so don't know long term performance.
