Another good reason to pull for the Bucs.

That's probably not a bad move. He has a strong arm and will, or should, have a year or two to learn behind Ben. Hopefully the Steelers can bring in a stud running back and take some of the pressure off either one.

Haskins won't see out the year.

rfuerst911sc 01-21-2021 03:16 PM

I wonder if the Steelers are working towards asking Ben to retire . Isn't his contract for next year a huge hit to their salary cap ? I think I read something like 21 percent ? That money could be better spent , not that Haskins is the answer but who knows .

They're more likely asking him to sign a new contract. If he retires he's still a 22M hit to the salary cap.

I think Haskins is a no risk "value" move. Bring him in. See how he does. If he looks good, keep him. If not, cut him loose in the preseason. He can't be worse than Mason Rudolph.

My personal preference would be the Steelers making a move for Jalen Hurts. But I do think Haskins can be a good QB. The guy only played one year of college ball and they make him the 15th pick in the draft and then make him a starter?

He seems to project high energy and confidence, maybe it will trickle down to the team in those Red Zone moments.

I wish him luck, and all the best.

The Lions evidently embraced the reference to "The Big Lebowski," identifying Campbell as "Head Coach / The Dude" on the nameplate hanging outside his office.
The Dude

Passion in a word......................this is good, we need a lot of that.

And 44 years old, still young enough to be idealistic and have a dream, a vision other than early retirement.

Matthew Stafford asked the Lions after the end of the season to trade him . Apparently the team and Stafford agreed a new start was best for all involved . I would expect he will have no problem being picked up . He's 32 years old so has plenty left in the tank .

cabmandone 01-23-2021 03:30 PM

Stafford would be a GREAT get for my Steelers!

rfuerst911sc 01-23-2021 03:38 PM

I would imagine his agent has already started conversations with SF/Pat's/WFT/Colts and many more . It will be a bidding war . He is a good man I would like to see him go to a winner with a line that can actually protect .

stevej37 01-24-2021 04:13 AM

Doesn't look like the weather will be a factor in either game today.
29 in GB and 39 in KC
GB light snow in the am and gone by gametime.

Well that leaves the Steelers out.

I can't see San Fran snagging him unless the injury to Jimmy G is worse than what has been released publicly. Jimmy G has a big contract that doesn't expire until 2023 I think. Would be interesting if SF did pick up Stafford. That would open the door for Jimmy G to go back to the Patriots.

mattdavis11 01-24-2021 05:13 AM

My hopes are that Jerry will pull his head out of his arse, dump Dak, and Stafford can finish out his career where it all began.
