Hallux valgus, fixable.
Why anyone would not get that fixed I cannot imagine.

Big toe, mostly on my right foot. I think part of it comes from trying to keep the toenail the correct length and shape to avoid an ingrown toenail.

I darn my own socks.

Put an end to my downhill skiing in my 30's...the boots have no give in that area.

I'm glad it's not painful but my gwad it looks painful. Anyway, all the best.

So for the record...

I only wear Australian made socks. Certainly not cheap but they feel rather good when I'm sitting in a Chinese restaurant. ;)
And I've found that if you pay a bit more for your socks you tend to look after them.

Anybody tried Bombas at $12 a pair?

It's prob like the guy who needs plastic surgery...but doesn't feel/see the need. :D

I'm sorta embarrassed to divulge this, but I have at least one hole in all of my socks :D

stevej37 09-23-2020 08:38 AM

Thanks.
I'm 67 yo and it doesn't bother me day-to-day at all.
I bike every day at least 20 miles and no problem.
It was a gradual thing from my late 20's...doc said it was mostly hereditary..and he was correct. My brother and two sisters have the same.

I fix those all the time, and a lot of the time I don't. If it does not hurt, and does not prevent you from doing what you want to do, why would you want to go through surgery?

I know, crazy talk from a surgeon.

Limited shoe choice.
Had to stop skiing.

I call those very good reasons.
Not judging, I'd get surgery if it were me.

Lots of older folks think like that. The sad that that my wife and I have realized is that often the kids don't give a schitt and just trash that sort of thing when the oldsters kick off.

My wife and I both value family, history, sentiment, etc.... Her grandmother died and then her grandmother's sister either died or went into an old folks home, so the daughter had an estate sale. We went and bought as much stuff as we could afford at the time, because there was a lot of stuff from her great grandparents who she remembers. We got several pieces of their wedding crystal from the early 1900s. My wife has her dad's bronzed baby shoes.
