Up All Night VII

Holy Cow!

It's 2 AM here in the east. I've been up for about 2 hours. I think I'm OK now. Kinda looking for this post to be a reality check for me tomorrow or someday.

I've been doing Physical Therapy for some back and hip pain and my doc subscribed Methocarbamol muscle relaxer to help the pain and make the PT more effective.

I took one of the 500mg pills this afternoon. I went to bed about 10PM (EDIT: looking at my Fitbit it appears I actually went to bed at 8PM.)

So sometime - about 12 PM as far as I can ascertain, I think I woke up and went to the kitchen to get a drink of water.
I couldn't find my way back to the bedroom.
I don't know if I was having a dream or if I was awake and so fcked up I no longer knew my own house. Our central hall has 5 doors, one goes to the bedroom and one, a little to the right of it, is a carpeted stairway to the basement. Assuming this happened and it wasn't a dream, I somehow had the sense to know to get down on the floor and try to find my way to the bedroom. Somehow I managed to crawl down the 5 or 6 steps to the landing on the stairway to the basement. I remember being perplexed that the floor was carpet and every where I touched there was a wall. I think that was the clue that I was on the landing to my basement and not in outer space somewhere.
I don't know how long I was down there. I normally sleep in boxers and a tee shirt but my sense at the time was that I was totally naked. When I "came to" a little later and recognized where I was, I was indeed on the landing and totally naked.
I DON'T KNOW WHAT THE HELL WAS GOING ON!
It might have been the muscle relaxer, or maybe it was a bad dream. I don't know that I've ever had a dream where I took all my clothes off in the middle of the night that MrsWD wouldn't remember . Gotta check with her in the morning.
It's been a couple of hours and I feel like I'm OK to trust going back to sleep. I'm feeling kind of happy I didn't fall down the stairs and break my neck
If this looks weird in the morning I will know whether I just had a bad dream or had a bad drug reaction that involved sleeping on the basement landing and doing a lot of typing.

My vote is that it's the muscle relaxer. Hopefully, you'll be fine in the morning. Looking forward to your next post confirming as much.

Patrick, is that all you took? Did you take an Ambien by mistake?

Scary stuff Patrick. Just think, millions of people all over the world want to feel that way all the time. That is the really scary part.

For sure talk to the doctor, and check out the side effects of the meds.

MsWD confirms that I was up at 1AM. My Fitbit shows that I was awake from 11:30 to midnight and in deep sleep from midnight to 2 AM - the Period of time I was lost in the house and couldn’t find the bedroom. I jumped into REM sleep at about the time I made the post in the OP. This also the time I made it back into bed. Very strange.
I am not taking that stuff again - ever! Ironically I took it late in the day because it “may” make you drowsy and I thought if I got drowsy I would just sleep it off.

I have been using Zanaflex generic tizanidine for years. Take a pill and 45 min later sound asleep. Wife says I usually have night terrors when I use this stuff. Also makes me very cranky for the remainder of the day.

Muscle relaxers are good, buit can really screw with sleep.

I had facet nerve ablation about 6 weeks ago, really worked. I also got a series of facet injections 2 weeks ago. Anytime I take a corticosteroid I am up ALL night, until it wears off.

That's why I switched to Klonopin.

When chemical imbalances occur at night, I have a tendency to sleep walk. Sometimes I go outside, sometimes not, sometimes clothed, but usually not.

She usually gets me back to where I belong.

Bumping this question. Ambien and the muscle relaxers, maybe?

It's not a crime but maybe a bad combo?

I can’t stress this enough: try pot cream or CBDs or liquids.

I had been in extreme pain for over fifteen years, based on an accident I had in college...the culmination of years of walking at a list. The last four years in the Navy I was exempt from the annual PT test.

Left hip replaced, waiting on the right, but the back will always be an issue and I will not get back surgery, a slippery slope if there ever was one.

Pot cream changed my life. I take the occasional ibuprofen, maybe twice a week, but nothing else.

Nothing.

I work out (old guy stuff but I’m moving) and could not be happier. Try it. If it isn’t for you nothing lost.

I wish you well. I know pain but I will not take traditional pains killers, they scare the crap out of me.

What about using the pot cream or CBD with other medications?

Any possibility you could reveal the product you are using, Paul?

Source?

There's so many different products and vendors on the market it'd be nice to get the scoop from a reliable source.

Thanks!

Sheesus WD! Don't do that stuff and get well man. No fun living with pain and even less fun when the stuff prescribed messes with ya!

I don't recall what my doc prescribed for a muscle relaxer but it didn't mess with me like that!
