In 2006 I got a signing bonus that was enough for a 512BBi (back then). I thought of buying one. Bought a house instead. Bad investment decision.

Naw, people still revere those things but your 89 Carrera could run circles around it. In spite of a glorious 12 cyl exhaust note the BB 512i weighed around 3600 lbs. They weren't all that thrilling to drive which is why so many are sitting under car covers with less than 10k miles on the odo. The style also looks quite dated to me.
