Back in the 80's I was transferred to a facility that was being built. I was there about 6 months when I received a letter at home. Fancy envelope with no return address. A very cryptic letter on high end stationary that went something like this.

You are being looked at to join a secret society. We have the resources to help others within the society to achieve far more success than one would ever dream. Yada yada yada.

Do not discuss this communication with anyone. While at work, place a blank piece of paper on your vehicle's dash if you are interested. You will then be approached by one of our members. Yada yada yada.

James, I received a nice email from some friendly Russians. From what I could figure out the Word document they attached to the email was some helpful suggestions on how to improve my company web site. They sent it with no request for me to pay anything, just out of the goodness of their hearts.

It was of course in my spam folder and the span alerts were pretty sure it was malware. I decided I like the web page as it is.

That's where they get the smoke from.
