Navy guys..question..
A friend is trying to get a hold of a former buddy of his that has a desk job at Millington near Memphis and was wondering if there was a directory list of phone numbers or email addresses where he can look him up? He knows the job title he has.. or maybe a general base contact number? He is not former military and neither am I so have no clue how someone could get that info if at all?

Millington is Bureau of Naval Personnel. Actually a neat place.
I did a tour there, commuted from DC. https://www.public.navy.mil/bupers-npc/Pages/default.aspx They should be able to find him. If not, I can get a friend of mine to do a search.

That is great. BUPERS does a few things well - who to talk to is one.
Glad I could help!

It is funny, I went to Millington kicking and screaming as the AEDO Detailer. I was a CDR and they were not asking...it is a plumb assignment, just one I didn't want. It was and remains, beyond all the cool flying stuff, the quals, the other fleet stuff, the most informative tour I spent...the reason I declined the next level. Nothing bad, I just knew rest of the story.

Fully understood Paul. I hated the BN Command assignment idea I received as a LTC. Turned out to be awesome. Sometimes we never know. On a note, movers are here today for our last move; starting retirement leave on the 26th. 34 years and 29 days. Hooah!

Rika, thank you friend. Hopefully we can meet up again in SA. Our last encounter was too short, but a great time with the bird. Ha!

Congratulations, btw. You have had a remarkable career; amazing, really. Whatever you decide, I am sure it will be a second chapter as well done as the first. Best.

Thanks for your many years of service to our wonderful country Snapper. This country depends on people like you to survive and thrive. You and I went in about the same time only I was enlisted and served about 30 years less than you but always looked up to the long termers.
Hope you have a great retirement and get to do all the things you’ve planned.

Bigtoe: Thank you Sir! My mantra is that it does not matter how long you served; thank you for your service. I give credit the day a person raises their hand as most people do not even get to that moment in life.

Thanks Danimal. I could not have chosen a better, more fulfilling career for myself. I will pass your kind thoughts to my family. If I have never thanked you; THANK YOU! I do remember when you last returned from the Middle East. Yep, almost 3.5 decades, started during Reagan years. Much has changed. Much remains the same. I will now do what my mom always told me to do, “Go outside and play”.
