Most Heavily Legged States

https://obesity.procon.org/us-obesity-levels-by-state/

I would have never guessed some were higher or lower.

Now, I know some PARFers will come here and quarrel with the data, e.g. states with high Polish or German popns. will be biased towards heavy leggedness, or bootie factor states will be etc. etc.

But "it is what it is"

I'm sorry, but does that moving POS map actually mean anything? Do you have a point you'd like to make?

john70t 10-15-2020 06:56 AM

It doesn't correlate with the cousin marriage map.

1. There is a pause button that will stop the map from moving.
2. I do not think there is a point, Mr. Webb is just having some fun with us.. This thread is another parody of this thread. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/off-topic-discussions/1075649-most-heavily-armed-states.html

It would be interesting to note that the standards for "being obese" have changed since the 90s. You would need to correct the data for that, in order to have a meaningful result.

At least in the first link - the year-by-year map of the US, the standard stayed BMI > 30.

I spent those years in CO. They were good years for sitting on the patio near the jogging paths in Denver and Golden. Preferably with some corned beef hash and a bloody...

Not a good thing for fat states.

Why COVID-19 is more deadly in people with obesity—even if they’re young

Since the pandemic began, dozens of studies have reported that many of the sickest COVID-19 patients have been people with obesity. In recent weeks, that link has come into sharper focus as large new population studies have cemented the association and demonstrated that even people who are merely overweight are at higher risk.

Part of the problem with our current body positivity culture is this statement from the article:

“He was a young, healthy, hardworking guy,”

No he wasn't, he was "severely obese". We allow ourselves to refer to someone who isn't actively dying in a hospital as "healthy", and then we're surprised when they die of COVID complications.

Apparently my state is so fat they didn't put in the results. I do see a lot of fat people walking around my state.
