Bathroom flooring suggestions needed

We are biting the bullet and having our bathroom remodeled next month. I've had it with slippery bathroom floor tile. I slipped an pulled a muscle a couple of years ago and it took weeks to heal up.

What are my options for quality, good looking non-slip bathroom flooring.

Depending on the style of your house?

I put a pebble floor to prevent slipping in our rentals (no law suits). In my own house, We have a slate floor.http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1603902372.jpg

Electric radiant heat is a plus. Especially when you take your 3am piss in the dead of winter!

Smaller tiles will offer a bit more traction due to more grout joints

I did polished copper slate in our last house and really liked it, polished marble in this one, I do not find it slippery at all, but does require some sealing. I think all the man made glazed tiles are likely to be slippery. Natural stone needs a good flex free subfloor though, or decouple it.

OTOH, grout gets really dirty - don't ask me how I know this...

You are suppose to clean your house before they get too dirty :D

Try a steamer. Cheap ones are 40 bucks and save your scrubbing for something else

See all that grout between the pebbles. It all comes off with a steamer

If you get the laminate flooring, I would suggest a minimum 10mm thickness, the thin stuff doesn't want to lay flat and is flimsy

We put in a electrically heated floor and porcelain tiles that have a textures surface. I sure love the heated floors in the winter.

I need more cleaning robots.

Where is Ray Bradbury when you need him?

Don't know what kind of floor tile allowed you to slip, at least not easily. Now put a blazed wall tile on the floor and you have a skating rink. As mentioned, smaller tiles offer a better grip.

But I've seen carpeted baths and using the correct carpet it's not bad. Not for me, but not bad. What else is there? Sheet vinyl? The most practical but not always that great looking.

And then there's engineered flooring. I have Marmoleum in my kitchen and it's easy maintenance. Not so good for spills, but there are waterproof versions. What I don't like about that is when moisture gets by the face, mold can grow under the flooring.

Real deep pile shag carpet will give you good traction and it is real absorbent near the toilet for any wayward streams.

I second LVT.....lots of options. There is water resistant LVT that looks like stone.

Go with carpet! no not really. It always grossed me out when I went in a carpeted bathroom.

FWIW, we put down Mannington vinyl tile in our bathrooms. Great stuff.

Modern vinyl plank style are easy to install , waterproof and available in a ton of styles . Go to any big box or flooring store and take a look . Non slip are available also .

Tile comes in different textures. We have different tile with different textures in each bathroom. I don't think I'd go for any other type of flooring.

I did a slate tile. Has natural texture to it for that extra grip!http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1603930363.jpg
