I am telling you, those guys are nipping at our heels with their tech and mfg. I buy one if I was in the market. Ia m not goingt o climb and go off into the sunset in the desert. If it breaks, I will just leave it on the side of the road and walk home for that price. I have no idea what a similar Yahama or Honda cost?

Go with the Honda....unless you don't mind being stranded/broke down.

They are built to Chinese consumer standards. I would spend a little more and get a used Japanese brand. Yamaha, Honda, Suzuki, Kawasaki.

I would steer a wide path around that bike. I would imagine all the critical bits you cannot outwardly see are sourced from low bid manufacturers in bottom of barrel materials. Anything (MC/Bicycle) that will see dirt will need lots of maintenance, starting with junk just exasperates the situation.
For $500-1K more you can find a used name brand bike that will run circles around that thing for years to come, assuming that bike will make it that far. YMMV |

Chinese slave labor... pass.
I’d like an older Honda or KTM to tear around on although those are getting expensive to the point where I might be afraid to really thrash on ‘em. A Hawk might be fun because it’d be expendable and open up ways of having fun you’d never dare do on a more expensive bike but I still can’t justify supporting Chinese sweatshops - I don’t care how much fun they might be. |

Around here you can get an older, low mileage XT/XL/DR in that size for 2 grand. Some have electric start.
Been looking for an XT 350 for my daughter. They are harder to find. 250cc on CL all day long.

Appreciate all the replies, so far.
For the record......I already own the following:
The reason I want this Hawk is I want a modern dual sport with everything BRAND NEW! There is nothing else on the market made by Honda, Yamaha, or Kawasaki, or any other "brand name" that comes close to this price for BRAND NEW. The reviews are pretty good on reliability - but just to add some protection I bought the 2 year warranty for an extra $80. Supposedly covers everything headlight to taillight. And...it has electric start and my other ones as listed above do not! ![]()

Baz, friends don't let friends buy Chinese motorcycles. Or the saying goes something like that.
It would make your life a nightmare fixing everything constantly. |

I think I've seen Mtn Bikes with bigger diameter fork tubes than that has.
I could be wrong though.

Guy at my company bought 2, 250cc Chinese quads a few years ago. Both had engine failures within a week. Just sayin'

Buddy of mine bought an off brand Chinese scooter. Like a Vespa copy.
It started falling apart almost instantly. Also nearly impossible to find parts for it. The Hawk looks cheap.

I would've though Adam Sandler could afford something a little higher end.

I'll keep my 2003 Kawasaki KLR 250...it is perfect for my riding style (mostly cruising farm lanes, and easy trails/fields). It will still be in good shape long after the Chinese junk is tossed in the trash.

I bought my girl a mountain bike with a frame made in China. It was recalled so we bought her a carbon fiber bike made in Taiwan, LOL. The first bike came back a few days ago supposedly repaired. It looks the same but with chips in the powder coating
![]() I think as long as you understand it's an El Cheapo throwaway motorcycle, you're not going to try to keep it running when things start to go downhill. |

This bike is made in China, yes. But as a caveat....it is distributed and offered through the company based in Texas known as Ricky Power Sports (RPS).
How does this make it different from other products made in China? Well here's the difference, straight from the RPS website: RPS is located in Dallas, Texas, and is an import distributor and investment firm, emphasizing products manufactured in China and Taiwan. We work with a number of companies to help them introduce and sell their products within a competitive global market. As consumers know, the quality of Chinese manufacturing is variable, ranging from extremely poor to quite good. Utilizing a team of experienced analysts and engineers, RPS carefully assesses the quality and affordability of new products, ensuring that they are appropriate for the US market. This might explain why this bike has received so many positive reviews. As I said before....I already have a couple enduros made by Honda and Yamaha so that box is checked. This one has electric start and will be brand new and is very affordable - which will check even more boxes for me. I'm buying this bike just to have fun with. I'm not taking it to freaking Alaska for a touring excursion....it's just for around here. I'm also interested in some of the modifications other owners have done, so that will be fun to play with. As always......YMMV! ![]()

I pulled the trigger. Good riding weather right now - not the cold days....the cool ones....
![]() Color choices were blue, black, green, or red. I chose black with blue a second choice. Supposed to get here Feb. 4-16. I'm excited!
