My parts guy got fired !
There has been a lot of Drama at my local Advance auto parts over the last few years .
I got so pissed 2 years ago, I quit using them all together, ( another story ) but the regional manager came to me and asked me to try their other location. They are top notch, and treat me really good . A newer hire , Jason, has been there about 2 years . He is soft spoken, and seems to always have his stuff together. Well, I guess, he got into a confrontation with a customer over the weekend over an Alternator . Other guys who were there, said the customer was an ass, and had it coming, but Jason lost his marbles, and launched the guys alternator through the window then asked the customer " How do you like your fkin alternator now ******* ?" He launched it right through the huge showroom window out front . Its all boarded up right now . Of course , they had to fire him . Be nice to your parts guy |
Wow. Sounds like Jason's got a pretty good arm. That plate glass is usually pretty thick.

He probably thought: "That's all I can stanz, I can't stanz no mo!!"
|
LOL .... I've never had a job that I couldn't ea$ily replace either.
People left me alone .... except this one time. I fired a megabank I was an AVP at decades ago when an azzhole pissed me off .... the deck chairs were immediately rearranged as I watched from a few blocks away. I enjoyed watching the Titanic sink. Karma :D |
I was in retail parts for 3 years many years ago. For the first 2 of 3 years, I worked 40-60 hours as an hourly employee. For the last year, I was a manager. The managers "minimum" schedule was 55 hrs/wk, but I was told that there was probably only one manager in my district that could do the job in that period of time, so I was expected to put in 60-70 hrs/wk. That's the only job that I ever remember having a "nightmare" about.
I'm glad there are folks that do it. Lots of morons and bad people work on their cars. The secret is just not to care that much. Then they can't piss you off. I wish I'd been there, but wow, that's pretty crazy. Did Jason look like this? https://cinemarant.files.wordpress.c...lling-down.jpg I worked with a guy many years ago that REALLY reminded me of MD in Falling down. Jeans, short sleeved button up w/tie, sneakers, glasses, flat top. Unfortunately, the guy that I worked with was off, and got off of his meds, and eventually (several years later) ended up committing suicide by cop on the freeway in Houston. |
are you sure it wasn't a movie shoot?
|
that Jason guy is my hero, LOL!
|
I seen a LOTof crazy stuff over my life in the auto business- this ones pretty awesome!
|
I've certainly felt that way before.
But I work in a "professional" environment, so I'm supposed to bite my tongue when someone screws me. |
Can relate. There are a lot of people who have run out of good will and are really tired of suffering fools and "experts".

A guy working in an auto parts store is prolly not "highly compensated".
Shouldn't be to hard to find another job unless it's a small town. But ... maybe he should find something other than working with the public in a retail setting. Throwing an alternator through a window is not rational or reasonable and IMO, he needs professional intervention. <iframe width="658" height="370" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/TglQbGQbFxo" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture" allowfullscreen></iframe> Or maybe he can get a job at the mighty-mart: <iframe width="658" height="370" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/hReFx1kjuIE" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture" allowfullscreen></iframe> |
I'm very close to launching my own customers alternator through their plate glass window so think I'd like Jason
Has he got a gofundme page? Fred please buy him a beer from me! |

what we really need is a trebuchet for alternator launching

A good parts guy and a good parts shop is a thing of beauty, and almost non-existent now. I do remember the day!
Not long ago I needed a new fan belt for my refrigerant recycling compressor. I brought the old worn out one with me. The parts guy's first words was what vehicle is this from? I told him it is no car part, we will have to match it by size. He kept asking for the vehicle type. So I told him it was from my 1941 Itchypussy tractor. He got out the belt measuring gizmo and gave up looking on the computer. |
The local O'Reilly's had a girl that worked the counter. She knew her stuff pretty well and could have been a twin to Jessie Combs. I go in to get parts for the Cobra and she asks what I need, ready to type in the computer and I tell her it isn't in the computer. She says sweet, what can I get ya? She always knew where to get what I was asking for.

Geezer voice: Back in the good old days, I could go to my local import parts store. Ernie would ask what I need, and walk back to the shelves and be back in seconds with what I needed. He would then say this is part number whatever, and the updated version for your old part number whatever.
If he did not have it in stock, he would order it and have it in within a short time. People walked in all the time and handed him a fretszler bearing from a whatever and he would rattle off the part number and tell them I have two of them, or sorry, all out, but I will get it in three days. End Geezer voice. He was amazing storehouse of wisdom and knew where each part went on each shelf long before the computers came along. |

thing is - she should not be working there and needs to move on to something that will pay her what her abilities are worth I see that with baristas here too |
She doesn't work there now. I think that got her through school.

I’ve always wanted to rage quit like that. Damnit, missed my chances when I was selling car parts.
