I hated the part of the track entering at 3:30. After that turn I could either over rev the 2.2 S motor or shift into 3rd and back to 2nd in 3 seconds. It just wasn't for my car with the stock 901 gearset.

Old 911 would be out in the next session, no big deal.

I get it. I know the driver from Bimmerforums. His track car was down and he was there to instruct that day. Something happened where he was not instructing for the last session. He decided to jump in his DD Camry and run a session.

The car was a street car on worn street tires on old brakes and old brake fluid.

If he had prepped the car for the day and had proper tires / brakes / fluid for the day, I think he would have fared better.

I used to love taking my 1987 RX7 to track days. I looked stock to the uneducated. It looked like a F&F extra car. Except it was a 560hp 2600lb track weapon. I tossed 10" wide slicks on it and it battled Ferrari race cars during DE's.

I would see the snickers and smiles as I pulled into the pits for the day. After the first session there were endless visits with "WTF have you done to that car?" That used to make my day.
