How big is the dog(s) you take for rides in your 911?

This morning was a perfect TARGA morning in DFW, so I went for a drive. It was awesome, except I couldn't take my Car Crazy buddy, Charlie. He loves going for rides, and used to fit in the Targa, when I had seat backs I could fold down, and no roll bar. Now, he can't get his big butt in the Recaro (Maybe I should try Sparco Evo 3s?)

At any rate, I came home, got the other car, and took him for HIS drive. It got me thinking, how big a dog do others haul in their 911? Do they sit in the front or the back?

The object of my affection:

Somewhat related question: Anyone have any luck installing a car seat in the back of a 911 Targa? My son dearly loves to go for rides, but at 3 he is required to be in a seat.

I used to take my overgrown schnauzer in the back of my '67 912 and he loved it. No dog currently, but the answers posted on this thread may influence my purchase......

She used to ride in my SC, but with a full cage in my T I can barely get anything in the back.

The tan paw is her younger brother.

They are retired racers. Very loving but have turned my yard into a mess.

BTW - for a conv. or cars with the window down all the way -- get a water rescue or search & rescue harness and put it on your friend. Then tie them in so they can only get 1/2 way or less out the car. This can save a life. Even if normally quiescent, any dog will lunge if it sees something really important (another male dog, a deer with a bouncing flag tail, etc.).

One fits fine though, he sits on the parcel shelf when my girlfriend is with me.

She's only 60 lbs now but is expected to hit 130lbs. Daddy was 165 lbs. She loves the rear with the seats down and when we approach an overpass she duck's as we pass under. Funniest thing to see. She's a Central Asian Shepard which is basically a Russian Mountain Dog.
Had 2 Akita's prior to her and each were 100lbs and loved the Cab.

I don't allow him on the seats themselves but he loves it when I put the top down and let him sit on the top of the rear seats after I've folded them down.

Here is my Charlie, also a Texas dog. He doesn't care where he rides as long as he gets to go.

You know what they say: It ain't the size of the dog in the fight but the size of the fihgt in the dog!
