Thorton Chip

Anyone here ever try one of these?

$89.00 for an additional 60HP and 5 MPG gain, on a 2007 Dodge Ram 1500? Seems a bit of a reach...

Thorton Chip Tuning

I was wondering if this might be a true DYI kinda job, or if I should track down those Motor Meister guys and have them do it...

Cow Magnets in your gas tank will double the gains.

Not sure, but this claim doesn't seem quite accurate:

"Absolutely not. Our tuning chip will not void any warranties. If you have a very strict underwriter on your warranty you can simply unplug the unit before taking your vehicle in for service with no traces and install it later."

Isn't the short/long term fuel curve stored?
A sudden re-mapping must show up in the system and might throw a dash light.

Seems unlikely to work. Did you look at ramforum.com for reviews?

To get more HP/torque you need to get more air and the right amount of fuel in and then get the exhaust system to be able to get rid of it! When I had my F350 Diesel I wanted a bit more power so I went to ORW in San Diego and talked to their diesel guru and it so happened there was an off road circuit race weekend in the SD area so I was in luck. I ended getting a computer system that plugged into most all the engine sensors, a 5 inch stainless exhaust with a Flow Master muffler and a straight in air cleaner/intake that was even CA CARD approved! We figured in the "Race" (#4 setting) I was getting about 120 ft-lbs of torque more and 85 or so HP. As we know torque is what makes the truck move so the first time I jammed it into#4 and floored the throttle from a freeway red light entry I nearly ran over a 5L mustang!

So the moral is check before you spend as has been said.

i fail to see how they can linearly promise more power AND more MPG with each of their Stages
for Cayman or Cayman S, Panamera its the same story
2007 or 20018
Turbo vs non turbo
2.7 or 5 liter engine

Doesn't matter,
Stage 1 20bhp 1mpg
Stage 2 40bhp 3mpg
Stage 3 60bhp 5mpg

i bet you need bigger muffler bearings after this mod

Vehicle manufacturers purposefully hold back HP and MPG! They are in cohoots with the oil industry.
Same reason they used those clogged air filters - so those oil soaked but open breathing filter mfrs can sell their products.

Back in the olden days when I was in high school one of my classmates was 100% convinced "they" had invented a magic carburetor (yep that long ago) that got 100 MPG and better HP than the ones that came on cars.

It was just as much BS than as now. It is truly wonderful that cars of today can get 30 MPG from a 600 HP engine when driven on the highway in a careful manner.
