0.258 foot pounds force. my tooth implant

my tooth implant was a success!!

today was my torque test!! and being a nerd, i had to ask what the torque value was. 35 N*Cm. pretty cool actually feeling him turn until he got the same double-click i look for on a lug nut.

my fake tooth goes in January when my dental insurance turns over a new year. while i hope and pray i NEVER have to do that again, i do have to admit, it was a cakewalk. inconvenient?..yes. painful? no.

on the shiny side of this coin, i have improved my oral hygiene to damn near OCD levels. i am not losing another one without a fight! i floss twice a day, and i irrigate like madness. lesson learned.

BTDT more than once.

I guess in today's world we can blame our mom for everything. My mom let me eat candy as a kid so have some teeth problems as geezer.

Tooth implants are breathtakingly expensive. I have more money in tooth #30 than many cars on the road today cost.

I often eat an apple after eating "regular" food/meals. The apple scrubs out gunk that's stuck in nooks and crannies, then I floss to get rid of the apple bits. Keeps the chompers clean and keeps the plumbing flowing due to all of the fiber.

i got lucky. my wife signed me up for her work's insurance as well. so i was double covered.

so far, i am of pocket $700. i think that will be it. the only thing not covered was the 3D imaging scan. "don't worry, i got this" i felt like exact measurements of my jaw was a GOOD thing.

Glad that the pain quotient was low (physical and monetary). Congrats on the bionic chompers!

I've had a few crowns. That mini torque wrench is a weird feeling when it clicks.

They gave me a temp tooth right up front, but it was held in place by a clear retainer like device that covered several teeth. I hated it and didn't wear it while I waited for the cadaver bone to be absorbed. I wasn't the handsomest guy for a month or so...

Back when I was still just 19 my front teeth died. Two teeth, no cavities. The dentist said it likely was from getting hit in the face a lot by my brother. It was back when the dentist could do root canals and he did root canals. Of course over the years they became very yellowed. So I had crowns, but eventually those needed to be replaced with implants.

You might remember as a kid having the period when the front teeth fall out and the permanent teeth grow in. As an adult it sucks to have no front teeth. They first removed the old remains of the teeth, and put in the cadaver bone. It is several month of no front teeth. It is hard to talk!

As a guy, I just let my mustache grow really long, the 80s huge mustache look, and most people never knew I was a hillbilly looking toothless man. Finally I got the implants, but that had to heal up before they capped them with teeth. It sure was nice to talk normal and eat corn on the cob again.

I'm right there with you. The front left three teeth of mine are all dead due to various injuries when younger. Only one has a cap though. Some root canals were ok. Others had me jumping out of the chair and grabbing the ceiling.

Did you ask to see the calibration log? Does the Dentist have a mini Skidmore to check the wrench?

#9 and #30 here. It was fascinating feeling the process. Not cheap but a more permanent fix than post and crown.
