Day 11 - salt and sweet flavors coming back a little. Jalapeno heat is way over the top intense and acidic. I'm reading that some people have permanently altered sense of taste and smell. That would suck.

I'd say it's a good sign that you are noticing at least some of the smell/taste function returning (likely no permanent neuron damage). I know some have reported good results with "smell therapy" for helping to expedite the return. I believe some docs have used a targeted steroid treatment via nasal solution (lavage/irrigation) in some (more severe/prolonged?) cases. Might ask your doc about that if it persists. ;)

Glad you are getting better.

Loss of smell can open up new career opportunities. For example, pulp mills, rendering plants, and feed lots.

Day 13 - taste and smell senses back about 50%, Still have some head congestion in the mornings but it clears after a couple hours.

Glad you are doing well.

Let us know if you experience any vasculitis in 2021. This seems to be a lasting effect for younger patients.

DonDavis 11-21-2020 07:52 AM

Good updates and they're going the right direction.

Glad to see you are recovering well. Mys sisters neighbor just died from compications. She was mid 20s. 26 IIRC.

She was Souix if that makes any difference. Seems some genetics are harder hit than others.

Ha! Domino could certainly use a bath! Taste and smell are back on line. No vasculitis no matter how hard grim reaper tries to sell it.
