Windy days + above ground pool + winter cover = anxiety

Ugh! I hate windy days. My pool looks like a giant jiffy pop out there. I have a cover that's held on by bungee chords and each year the wind decides to remove it for me. I'm hoping it can withstand the wind today!

That will be a big bowl of popcorn.

Wind was howling in Oklahoma yesterday. I opened the door to the backyard and a bushel of leaves blew in.

We had some 50 MPH gusts last night. Many people lost electricity. We just had some debris blow around and still have electricity.

Our power co. sent out emails warning of power outages this afternoon and tonight.

Is that tramp' anchored down? If not, it looks awful close to your cars.

I don't know why this causes anxiety. It's not like I don't know what the outcome will be! But this time, mother nature decided to teach me a lesson. Release the side opposite the direction of the wind and it relieves the pressure! Oddly, the east side bungee chords let loose even though they had the least pressure on them. Once it let go, the top just flopped around but seems to have withstood the worst of it.... but that was only round one. We shall see.

Four ratchet straps tied around the main bars with anchors driven about 3' into the ground. That thing is the least of my worries. It has been through this kind of stuff and lived to tell about it. My pool cover? Not so much. Last year about two weeks before Thanksgiving we had a wind storm like this. Cover came off. I ended up in the pool on thanksgiving because someone said I wouldn't do it. Stupid alcohol! Stupid... stupid.. alcohol!

I'm gonna go talk to my doctor tomorrow. I think anxiety is a reason for them to prescribe medical weed. I'll smoke my anxiety away!

I don't think that's gonna do it! If you see a pool cover like the one in the picture above come blowing by, let me know!

Mine was billowing up earlier. We tied ropes across the south side where the wind was getting under it. They didn't help the cover just kept whipping around. I put some light sandbags along the south side and it's doing fine now.

Do you mean 'South Haven'?

The Black River on the other side of the state empties into Lake Huron.

^^^ South Haven is about an hour from where I live. We've had 45-50 mph winds this afternoon.
Still have power...thankfully.
