With overkill in mind, my wife, and I bought a 2004 Ford Excursion Limited 4x4 with a 2" lift, and 32" tires. It has a bulletproofed 6.0L diesel that knocked down 18.5 mpg with 6 people, luggage, a bike rack, and a roof bag on a recent trip with the family.

We bought it to tow our 32" travel trailer at 9000#...it does this wonderfully, and is also unstoppable in the snow.

Hahahah, the missus would be more interested in driving something that would fit in the back of your Excursion.

I would have photoshopped some cruise ship smoke stacks on if I had the software.

Ckelly, having owned an '04, see if they make a brake upgrade for them yet. That was the only thing I ever found lacking in it.

Sorry, couldn't help myself.

This is what we went with. Not the most flattering photo, but shows the color of the paint and exterior better than the dealer's shots. They are going to install a hitch and touch up some scratches. CPO, 35k miles, fully loaded, 3.6L flat-6.

So long as she’s happy, congrats!

That, exactly!

Land Rover LR3. Get an ‘08. Can be found with under 100k on the odo for <10k. Fantastic rig, very versatile. Lots of room. Silky smooth Jag V8. And the most reliable of the 9 Land Rovers I’ve owned. The ONLY Land Rover Mrs. K says we should have kept.

Edit: Sorry, thought you wanted something with good towing/hauling/carrying capacity. I see you went another route.
