Nissan engine swap- curiosity

While looking at YouTube videos to make some general DIY repairs to my 07 Xterra suspension I came across some videos on what they call a "Titan swap" which is swapping out the Xterra suspension for the Titan suspension. This guy swapped out the Xterra 4.0V6 for the Titan 5.6 V8. How does the engine swap work with emissions?

It's not anything I am interested in doing just curious how this guy gets this thing through emission?

Exactly. Though I think even in the commie states if you swap the same year or newer with all emissions equipment intact and it passes the sniffer test then you are still good.

WA just did away with emissions testing after decades of it. We never had visual inspections. If you passed a sniff test or they plugged into your computer and the engine wasn't throwing codes you were good.

That I understand. If you swap in a like kind engine. Here in Commie NJ you enter make, model, engine, vin. The Xterra didn't come with a V8 so if you enter the engine it won't register or so I am told as it was not OEM type equipment for the model.

I asked this question a few years back to a mechanic friend. We were having a similar discussion and I stated it would be cool to take the Dodge/Cummins diesel and drop i in a four door Wrangler he stated it would pass emissions as the Jeep didn't come with a diesel option in the US.

Since the X doesn't have a V8 option how does this pass the sniff test?

In CA you can't have an identical carb with a Chevy part number in a Ford. The only difference in the part is the throttle connection that bolts onto the butterfly shaft. Ask me how I know.
