Great tune--one of the first I learned when I picked up the guitar in HS. Well, everything except the cools licks. I still haven't gotten most of those down.

Love that style...like water rolling over rocks, Lindsey Buckinghamesque.
So effortless, it seems. Thanks for that.

I never thought MK or the band ever got enough credit.
Spent many a night listening to Telegraph Road...

Brilliant. One of my top guitarists of all time. Very influential to me. Superb feeling of rythm.

I think Mark owns a Ferrari 250 GTO, which makes him super cool, guitar chops or not.

The duet recordings he did with Chet Atkins were pure magic.

Quote:
About a hundred years ago, I watched a TV show wherein Merle Travis presented some award to Chet Atkins. Travis was an early mentor for Atkins and in his presentation speech, Travis said, "Chet, teach me back, please." . BTW, Merle's guitar playing style was developed out of a native tradition of finger-picking in Western Kentucky. Among its early practitioners was the black country blues guitarist Arnold Shultz, who taught his style to several local musicians, including Kennedy Jones, who passed it on to other guitarists, notably Mose Rager and Ike Everly, the father of The Everly Brothers. . And the beat went on, eh? ![]()

Sultans of swing perhaps the perfect rock solo, not to much or to little, i have to stop and listen anytime i am exposed. Merle and Chet did an album together , on of my favorite 8 tracks, never could get my buddies to listen, their loss.
