Are there any car magazines worth subscribing to?
I used to subscribe to two or three different car magazines: car and driver, motor trend were are my two favorites. I dropped both of them a number of years ago as they really didn’t have anything that interested me. I also liked Automobile magazine even though I found Davis to be insufferable. Have things changed? Any magazines worth subscribing to?

I still subscribe to Road and Track, Excellence and get Pano by virtue of being a PCA member. I'm very much considering dropping my Road and Track subscription. Between the magazine posting their articles on the website before I get my magazine, the launch of their "premium service" and the recent decision to go to six issues a year, I'm not entirely sure they provide any value to me. I've been a subscriber for years but the quality nose dived into the shallow end of the kiddie pool after the Hearst acquisition.

Car and Driver was always my favorite....long-time subscriber here.
The last year or so the Editor in Chief left and there is a Sharon gal running the show. I hate to say it, but it's seems to have really gone downhill. It may not be her fault...but I don't see myself renewing.

I subscribed to Autoweek back when it was a pulp, and they had great writers. I finally canceled them when it was almost no racing news, came out sorta every two weeks but often way late, and was mostly about "lifestyle" and trucks and SUVs. It was no longer written for men like me that want racing news, and articles about cool cars. If I wanted a review of pickups, I will look in a truck magazine.
I guess they canceled themselves and are gone now as well.

I used to subscribe to so many mags it made my wife's head spin. And I saved them too which also didn't help.
Then they all changed the INK they used and I found I was allergic to it. So every time I'd read a mag my head would start to fill up and my nose would run and I'd feel miserable. So I quit reading them. I loved reading Egan and Thompson (Cycle World), and some of the other's. Now, the best read I can find on the net seems to be Mile Markers on BaT.

I loved Hemming's Sports & Exotics but it went away a few years ago.

I cancelled my subscription to Automobile when they did a hit piece on Mitt Romney just before the 2012 election. I haven't had a car magazine since. I used to really enjoy them, but I get much the same experience watching various car channels on youtube.

Excellence Magazine has stayed valid to me over the years, still enjoy it.
PCA Panorama is now bigger than a 356 glove box and better IMO.

Nope..none left. I still get R&T and Motor Trend, but probably will let them expire.
HOT ROD is still around...and will probably keep it going for nostalgia's sake. (edit) Pretty hard to get excited when all the articles are about SUV's, Pickups, and electrics. Also, the left leaning political thought a real turn off. Less and less places to escape from political opinion...that's sad, no matter what your political beliefs are.

Same for me. From England ↓ no pickups, no SUVs, just cars.

I had the same feelings. For me AW started its slide downhill when they fired Satch Carlson. I finally canceled when the biweekly format was introduced. I still get their daily email, the majority of which is racing related. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

That's probably my favorite Car mag as well.
I used to subscribe to R&T. I preferred it over C&D and MT, if for no other reason than Peter Egan. I also like the British mag, Motorsport. ![]() I read the occasional Grassroots Motorsports and Vintage Motorsports, but never read enough of them to actually subscribe to either. I used to subscribe to and like Excellence. There's a surprising number of Porsche only magazines, so what I would usually do is head over to a Barnes & Noble and buy the issues that appealed to me. It seems there are several more these days. I do love nice photographs, but I also like content, stuff about older cars, race cars, custom cars that include technical details. I also don't want only newer cars, the classics are also great.

I got to the point where I'd go buy some magazines or had a subscription, and they never got read even though I wanted to. That was when I decided that I'd stop subscribing.

Hagerty has the best magazine. Of course, you have to have a vintage car insured by them to get it. And they only write about old cars. But that's what I like.
