Use vehicle tech...

Personally, I think many autos contain some instances of complicated tech for nebulous benefit. This next one seems completely unjustified to me:

Just another piece of unnecessary tech that will eventually fail.

Which is one of the many reasons I continue to drive older cars I can fix myself.

Yea, I want to see how that will hold up in Chicago or Detroit weather. -30 to 100+ and salt all winter long. Trailers seem to dent up a lot of metal tags. Lots of pickups and SUVs with dented tags from people hooking up trailers.

It has the same benefit of buying a car with a top speed that is 3 times the speed limit: something to talk/brag about at the next party.

I’ve actually seen a couple of digital plates on the road here in CA. Both on Teslas. Did a double take and thought “that can’t be legal!?”

The speed limit around here is 75. Very few cars can hit 225. To hit 150 it hard for most vehicles. To have a car that run comfortably and economically 75 to 85 leaves lots of room for high top speeds.

Yea, I understand your point. No one really needs a car to go from 0 to 60 in under 3 seconds seconds yet many of the electric cars can do that easily, and it is fun.

Tech like a digital license plate is great for the government and the people that sell it, but a standard plate has worked for over 100 years of automotive history. Tech like the Tesla "fart mode" is equally tech just for no reason except it is fun. I am 100% sure I don't need a electronic fart sound generator in my cars, as I have an all natural one that is free.
