The *real* Dueller thread
Dueller/Jim has indeed left the planet as mentioned in the Dueller-Dottore thread. Some of his legacy is mentioned in that thread, but I thought it would be fitting to create a thread where Pelicans could share thoughts and memories.
His thread about the wild weekend in New Orleans is here: https://forums.pelicanparts.com/off-topic-discussions/738632-youve-asked-duellers-great-nola-central-lockup-adventure-2010-a.html A report of his stroke (3/2013) from Sidney: https://forums.pelicanparts.com/off-topic-discussions/740882-pelican-down-duellers-had-stroke.html In 2016 he posted that he was looking for a car to participate in a multipart racing event/series here (pics of the build in the thread): https://forums.pelicanparts.com/off-topic-discussions/911645-talk-me-outta-track-autocross-c4-corvette.html He and I corresponded a little about it and I'm sure he wouldn't mind if I shared this... check the link for some really funny stuff Jim posted on Grassroots Motorsports' message board: ________________ Hey John... Surprisinglingly this is an original paint car. I'm gonna try to touch up repairs and then do graphics. In the GRM forum I;m spinning a yarn about it being the race team of Bolus & Snopes team....a real team that ran back in the 60;s and 70's. Still keeping the challenge people in dark about what I'm building. The original B&S team was started by William Jeanes ( former editor and publisher of Car & Driver magazine) who is a neighbor and friend of mine, Here is a link on the thread I've started on GRM forums: https://grassrootsmotorsports.com/forum/grm/bolus-snopes-ltd-to-enter-2016-challenge/118473/page1/ I;m dragging out the tale and gonna conclude this car was a previously hidden 6th Grand Sport Corvette that was swallowed up in the Bowling Green Corvette museum sink hole the popped up mysteriously in the Meridian IHOP sinkhole. Goofy but fun yarn I'm dragging out Ive been thinking about making it a recreation of one of the original 5 Grand Sports like George Wintersteens roadster. I was gonna actually chop the windshield but decided against it when I leaned Id have to have a full cage to enter the drag race portion of the challenge. And I'm also thinking of painting it as raced and not cleaned up to cover some of its battle scars, Give me your thought. Oiginal wintersteen roadster post race dirty: ![]() _________________ Post stroke thread by Jim where he is asked about his race "season": https://forums.pelicanparts.com/off-topic-discussions/1001851-stroke-addled-voice-past-hows-everybody-doing.html On p. 4 of that thread, Jim was asked about the C4. The car/team earned an appearance in Grassroots Motorsports: ![]()

I had lunch with Jim many years ago. He was selling his dirt bike and I bought it for my son.
I was still in the Navy and had business in Huntsville with the Army UAS folks. I drove my truck down and then hopped down to Jim's place to pick it up. Really lovely guy.

I talked to Jim on the phone a few times, he had an old kart that I was going to buy for my son but it didn’t work out. Super nice guy, I remember the C4 discussions well. Sad to see him gone, RIP.
