Old Soviet motorcycle full Restoration
The bike? - Three words: Heavy, Old & Russian so not really my thing but,
The reason I started this thread is because he shows the process and chemicals he uses to strip, prep and preserve the metal parts. I'm guessing "we" may have some issue getting some of the more exotic ones but he also shows the more basic ones we already know about. For instance I use Boiled Linseed oil in my workshop a lot. Anyway, enjoy and comment.

Serious skills (working with various chemicals)/etc. It is hard to imagine the number of hours that is put into a project like that. The guy makes it look easy - like he doesn't need the time to think of what to do, just doing it. I like the use of music. Of course we have our own Monaco coach rebuilder making us all feel lazy. Is this the same YouTube guy that rebuilds tools/etc.?

Love it... no need for fancy tools or huge $$$ on replacement parts. Just use your brains and chemistry knowledge and restore what’s there already.

Wow! Check the taping skills at 23:00 in. I can understand speed is important so pinstripe tape appears correct on a curve but I couldn't do that.

Pretty sweet use of chemistry, but I think I would have just blasted 90% of that stuff . That really turned out nice . I enjoyed that watch, thank you

Very cool! What was he doing with the nuts that he heated and dropped into linseed oil?
We never see his face. I'm thinking it could be Shaun surprising us with a new "Cure for Happiness" project.

I’m guessing the linseed oil burns a layer of non-metallic coating onto the nuts... like a really thin layer of plastic or something that’s actually bonded to the metal somehow... not sure though. Maybe someone can explain the actual chemical reaction involved there... It’s an interesting idea - could act as anti-seize and also prevent corrosion.
With all these old projects it’s 75% about stopping / reversing / preventing future corrosion. Rust never sleeps. I’m curious as to whether he bothered to rebuild the exhaust muffler with sheet metal.
