Dude. I am so driving to California overnight to snag that poster from Craigster. I happen to know it's about a 22 hour trip Door to door.. I'll be there in 14 when Craigster is still at work. (Gratuitous Pulp Fiction reference).

That's a cool poster. The one I've been looking for unsuccessful is also from the '80s, I used to have it. It had the 1983 LeMans results w Porsche 1-8 and #10. #9 was Sauber/BMW. The tag line on top was:

"Nobody is perfect."

Glad I was quick with the keyboard! Yes, I close on the 27th, you'll have to come up and check it out. 3 car garage, nice view. Did I mention it has a three car garage?

There is a real answer to why the exploding Porsche poster hasn't been reissued. The photographer, Steve Steigman, apparently had enough pull or foresight that he was able to keep the ownership rights to the exploding Porsche photo. He licensed the photo to Maxell for the campaign. Obviously the license expired a long time ago. The only versions of the photo that are available are authorized by his estate. I seem to remember there is some reason the state won't authorize any more runs, or maybe they're just doing limited prints. Anyway, the estate decided not to do any more commercial releases of the photo.

He did not retain the ownership rights to the other photos in the campaign, which is why those prints are still easy to come by.

^^ Interesting story. You'd think the family would "OK" a run of prints and bring in a little income.

I have one of those that's never been framed. If I can ever find someone with a big enough flatbed scanner I'll post the file for you guys.

Back when that was news that ad ran in AutoWeek in the days when it was real racing news and a pulp. I laminated it, and it hangs in my garage. It is behind the ceiling fan above the 356 poster.

It was for the 1983 Le Mans.
