How do I use the electric connector?

A buddy that works at MSD gave me a pile of these. He says they are waterproof and vibration proof. Seems like the perfect option to use on my kayak to allow me to swap batteries. I can use one of these at each battery and swap batteries with one pigtail to my appliance.

Do you just push the wire into the tiny hole? I dint have that many to guess. I tried to text my buddy. No answer.

Please see pics.

I believe that there are small pins that the wire is connected to before inserting the pin into the holder. There is a special tool made to remove the pins from the plastic housing. I don't think you can get them out without the tool. Not sure how waterproof they will be. The ones that are really sealed have a rubber seal on the male end of the connector.

You have to buy the small pins. You crimp the pins on the wire then the pins snap into the connector. It's a molex connector or something like that.

As for the pins and removal of them, it depends on whether that connector uses the round pin or the one with a small tab that locks it in once inserted. I've seen and used both. If you pull the orange rubber piece out, you should be able to tell what style of pin that connector takes.

Look up Pin and sleeve, You will need to find ones that fit. Make sure the amperage is rated for what you are using it for, and fuse at the battery. Something like McMaster Carr 9171T41, I am not sure if that one will fit your plug.

I don't think that connector is going to be safe for any successful fishing expedition on your kayak. Too much voltage going through the wire. Read more here.

They are Deutsch DT series waterproof connectors
You really should use the correct crimper, it will double crimp the pins correctly. Otherwise, don't consider it to be at all waterproof.

Looks like 20-25 amps at 12V is their limit, dunno what your kayak pulls.

They go for about $6-7 for each complete connector on Amazon.

Electrical connectors on a KAYAK! There is no sport in that. He's already stealth. It's not fishing if you have a fish finder, trolling motor, etc..., on a KAYAK! Shock the fish already! He has built a net that can gather enough for a fish fry.
