So we make eleventy gazillion flights to orbit just to put together the solar cells that cover several hundred square miles each. After we have mined all the proper special quarts required to make solar cells. (They are NOT made of sand) and the energy payback is going to be how many millennia?
Of course the solar cells will have to be at a orbit way higher than the current thousands of satellites to keep the satellites and other space junk from crashing into them and making more space junk. Do we build a space tower to run the long extension cord from the solar cells to the ground or do we use magic WI-FI signals to power everything? We all want some magic energy source to power our world, but we ran out of magic fairy dust eons ago. Maybe some unicorn farts will be enough. |
My advice: Invest in a unicorn fart startup. Now. Get in on the ground floor. We'll see who's laughing in twenty years.

Just put the solar cells on every house, warehouse, and other non-skyscrapers for now.
Less transmission losses than putting a big hunk o' sodium out in the desert. In hot areas you also get shade so less A/C needs. Some buildings here have semi-transparent solar cells on the windows - makes an interesting pattern on the floor. |
