Wrappers' Delight?
My wife, and other women I know and have known, actually enjoy the gift-wrapping part of the Christmas season. I, on the other hand, find it an unfortunate-but-necessary evil. I might even go so far as to say I genuinely hate the process of wrapping gifts.
I'm sure there are guys who enjoy it - not that there's anything wrong with that - I just don't know any. _ |
Gift cards and gift bags were invented for men. Or that wonderful concept of “why don’t you just pick your own gift this year honey”. This year my wife picked out two rugs, new bar stools, and some new decorative crap. I picked out an AR12 and got my SL63 windows tinted. We’re both happy!

i wrap presents like i am wrapping candy. lay it out on a big flat square of paper, and pull the corners up and twist. :).

It could get worse....
Rapper'z Delight ... Christmas Music :) |
I'm terrible at wrapping gifts. Just gimme a bunch of duct tape and I can make it happen though.

Coming from a family of 8 kids, I'm pretty good at wrapping gifts - doesn't mean I like doing it and I almost always wait until the last minute.
That said.....when I used to work for a department store chain, all corporate employees had to work in the stores 4 days each December. I chose the giftwrap department....figured it would be easy. When I got there, there was a back log of about 400 packages, and all were some form of custom wrap (did I mention I failed to attend any of the trainings they gave on giftwrap). After my first wrapping job, the lady asked me if I remembered to remove the price tags......umm, of course I said yes but did I?? |

This is what inspired the thread title. _ |
I don’t particularly like or am I very good at wrapping gifts, but It makes me feel happy knowing that the person getting the gift gets the joy of opening a present- I know gift bags are easy, but just don’t give the satisfaction of unwrapping to reveal the gift.

Last time I wrapped something was textbooks with paper bags in high school...
I miss drawing rock band logos and Aztec warriors throwing naked virgins into a volcano... |
One thing about me, I don't really care about the theme of the wrapping paper. I buy bulk rolls at Costco, which lasts about 10 years. Everybody's presents are in Christmas wrap - even on birthdays (or visa versa, depending on the decade).

I buy the gift bags...

I despise wrapping and am awful at it.

learned young, all before I was 18.
wrapping was my job for a few weeks at a Broadway Department store in the 70s. next year moved on to Tree decorating at the Treasury Department store. |
I used to save the Funny Papers from the Sunday edition to use as wrapping paper and sealed it with hockey tape. That way people knew it was from me and their expectations for quality of wrapping were immediately managed.

From what I understand, some people have "wrapping stations" built into new homes or remodels. Seems a little twee, but to each his or her own..
I have fun wrapping stuff sometimes. I recently wrapped a gift of 6 carefully selected craft beers with heavy burlap. Each bottle was wrapped and tied carefully with some thick natural jute twine, Then, all six were nested in a cool cardboard six pack holder from one of the brewers. I think it was well received? (But dollar store gift bags and tissue paper are my usual go-to's...situation dependent) |
