Interesting, we got the first round of checks, but haven't received anything this time. I tried checking for our status, but the website told me that I didn't enter our info correctly, so now I'm banished from checking for another 24 hours.

Taking my Friend to his doctors appointments today.

He is a very wealthy man. He has no simple income, makes a ton in investments.

He got $600.

You government at work.

He must not have made over $87K on his investments last year....Or he hid the income somehow.
The checks are decreased from $600 accordingly to your AGI.

Received a debit card in the mail today claiming to be my "Economic Impact Payment Card, enabled by Money Network®"

They give a phone number to call in order to activate the card, and say they also want my SSN, and that I'll need to set up a PIN to complete the activation. They claim that the card can be used to transfer $$ to a bank account (need to provide a routing #), used to make a cash withdrawal at an ATM or in-person at a bank, or make purchases on-line or at a store.

Anyone else get one of these? I'm a bit leery that it could be a scam of some sort.

Wow, yeah, sounds super bogus to me. Still, wouldn't surprise me if it wasn't something that a bureaucrat thought up and was legit.

https://www.irs.gov/newsroom/economic-impact-payment-information-center-topic-e-eip-cards

A1. The IRS and the Treasury Department are delivering second Economic Impact Payments as part of the Coronavirus Response and Relief Supplemental Appropriations Act of 2021. Most of these payments will be made by direct deposit. For those who are eligible for a second EIP and don’t receive a direct deposit by early January, they should watch their mail for either a paper check or a debit card. Please note that the form of payment for a second mailed EIP may be different than for the first mailed EIP. Some people who received a paper check last time might receive a debit card this time, and some people who received a debit card last time may receive a paper check.

Payments being sent on a prepaid debit card are known as the Economic Impact Payment Card. These EIP cards are sponsored by the Department of the Treasury’s Bureau of the Fiscal Service, managed by Money Network Financial, LLC and issued by Treasury’s financial agent, MetaBank®, N.A.

The EIP Cards being issued for the second payments are sent in a in a plain white envelope which prominently displays the U.S. Treasury seal and “Economic Impact Payment Card” in the return address. The envelope will also have the following notation: “Not a bill or an advertisement. Important information about your Economic Impact Payment.”

The Visa name is on the front of the Card and the issuing bank, MetaBank®, N.A. on the back of the card. Information included with the card will explain that this is your Economic Impact Payment. If you receive an Economic Impact Payment Card, visit EIPcard.com for more information.

The economic impact card is real. I received mine thought it was a scam card and was going
to toss it. Googled it first and found out the treasury sent out 10's of thousands of them
instead of a paper check.Activate it first then take it to your bank. They will cash it. No fee
involved.

Some of us are Impact-bumper 911 owners; we need the money to buy parts.

Huh, no checks for me because 2019 was a good year and I sold stock. I suppose one time income doesn't provide any exemption.

He takes no income other than his medical retirement from the Navy and social security.

Everything he owns is paid for and he has been sick so his needs are few.

My point was he got the check. Your tax dollars at work.

Trust the government folks.

Just the opposite for me. 2019 was a normal year for me except that I sold a commercial building. Big paper loss for that one year.

I’m not any happier about it than you are, but what are the alternatives - organized crime or anarchy?

Interesting. We'd gotten the previous stimulus check. We've been using direct deposit with the IRS for years. We expected to get this most recent stimulus check, and get it via direct deposit which is how we got the previous check. But the cut-off date came and went with no check. No big deal, claim the miss on income tax when I file.

I just received a physical check in the snail mail.
