Merc thought Perez would get a time penalty for running off track when passing Bottas and needed him to stay close enough to inherit third.

There is something just fundamentally wrong with Toto Wolff as a boss. To welcome and encourage dysfunction over accepting that efficient communication is a 2-way process, I think shows his lack of humility first of all, and probably more so a sick self-centered personality. That is no way to build a team, a company.

black73 06-21-2021 11:53 AM

Yeah, he's a toto failure.

Yea, with only the last EIGHT world championships in a row, his is just a loser.

The atmosphere of open communication and teamwork at Mercedes is widely touted as the real key to their success. The hierarchy is entirely approachable, no one feels they have to hide or cover up their mistakes, no "theory X" draconian top-down heavy handed management, punishing or demoting individuals for their mistakes, etc. etc. One of the best, most open, truly "team" environments in motorsport, where two-way communication up and down the food chain is absolutely the order of the day, encouraged by one and all. Toto is, in large part, responsible for all of that. It's the team philosophy that he has built and continues to encourage. The entire motorsports world is touting this as the main reason for their success.

Inside of an F1 team can be a very different place to how it's portrayed by the team or perceived from the outside

If Mercedes carry on losing, the old F1 expression of 'We're all in this together on your own' :D will become very apparent to many within the team.

Think Bottas is already having a taste of this judging by some of the comments Toto has been making in the press

So far 2021 has been great, lots of proper battles going on up and down the grid, season has a long way to go so will be interesting to see how it plays out

Well there you go taking all the fun out of being a psuedo-informed F1 fan. :D

That saying is applicable to many endeavors.

And another one.... It's 'Formula 1 not Formula Fun' :D

Show me where I say he is a "failure" or a "loser". Go ahead. Where?

I see that too, but then he obviously plays favorites. Maybe that is his way. Protecting the LF wheel gun guy is the latest example. Actually making Bottas dance for his supper is the latest one. I think Nikki Lauda did a LOT to foster open communication among the team. A lot of people have already forgotten him already. Nikki was both ruthless in his honesty and encouraging and gave a lot of pats on the back. You could trust him.

Dang I miss that! My first F1 race was Hockenheim 2002. As I was walking from the carpark there was West cigarette girls passing out (and lighting!!!) free cigarettes.

So much better than the current SJW protest nonsense.

Here they are in Monaco at a later race.

Yea, F1 and MotoGP have been neutered of such silliness. Pretty much all racing really. :(

Hambone is one of the most talented drivers to ever sit in an F1car. Certainly he will have the best overall record when he retires.

I just can’t get to the point that I like the guy. He can be a whiny little ***** when his race isn’t going to plan and he’s a complete twat outside the paddock.

I think back to some of the men came before him and I am a left perplexed as to why so many of the current crop of drivers will never be men, only boys.

GH85Carrera 06-24-2021 10:56 AM

No doubt, Lewis will not retire until he has every major record there is. Can't blame him for that. No doubt he has had the best car on the grid for 8 years. His car virtually never breaks, and his pit stops are never the cluster fudge that George got when he drove Lewis's car.

One thing I have to admit, it is really rare to see Lewis slide off the track and hit the barriers. Botas seems to manage to crash, in the same car but not Lewis.

Of all the F1 drivers he is not the one I would want to spend the day with. The likelihood of me hanging out with any of them is right below that of discovering time travel or winning the lottery.

For the launch of Fast and Furious 9... or is it 9,999? Sky had Danny Ric visit with John Cena. Golly, I hope Taiwan didn't come up or Danny will have to learn Mandarin for his apology

Love watching Kym Illman's videos.

He says Lewis bought that outfit off the rack for $1,700 (not including the galoshes). Money does not buy good taste.

He must be expecting rain? Or ...hmm

I doubt the MB F1 team is as laid back and cooperative as they seem to portray. I'm pretty sure it's an ultra-competitive atmosphere where huge dollars are invested and winning expected. Toto is like many CEOs; driven and winning-gratified. Mind games play a big part in manipulating and motivating for expected results. I expect Toto to cut one of this drivers for new blood in 2022. Thank you for your service, Bye.

The FIA have issued a new technical directive which slows down pit stops

https://www.planetf1.com/news/mercedes-stole-red-bull-advantage/

Redbul have been for years and are easily the best at pit stops with a record time of 1.82 secs to change all 4 wheels so have most to lose

Mercedes requested a technical clarification to the FIA on a certain aspect of the pit stop sequence which would have be specifically aimed at stopping RBR doing what they do

It's all part of the championship battle that goes on away from the track

Redbull did the same to me with a clutch paddle release mechanism I'd designed for the Ferrari steering wheel which gave us an advantage off the line and into the 1st corner. Their technical clarification worked, stopped us doing what we were doing but not as Redbull had intented as my redesign made the mechanism release quicker :D

This years championship is only going to get more fraught as the season goes on which will make compelling viewing if you're interested in F1. If you're not then don't worry as I'm sure there will be plenty to complain about to keep you interested ;)
