I should know this but I wanna say $8 a month ? Cancellable oct to March… $79 for the whole year I think. It may have been be iffy live initially but I’d hope by now it’s sorted and I doubt I will get up at 4am - so most of the time I’ll be on replay having breakfast and watching from Alonso, Leclerc, Max’s perspective and switching back and forth as I see fit. I watched the Hungary start from 5 different drivers - pretty cool. And I really enjoy the Porsche supercup.

Mostly I’m rid of shouty Crofty and I have all i need for $30 a month. Win.

I much prefer Crofty over Diffy. The suppporting announcing crew is knowledgeable and insightful from many points of view (driving, strategy), and don’t mind criticism when deserved - day and night compared to Indy coverage, including their abysmal timing board and graphics. Does Indy have minimum on-air exposure mandates for Jimmy Johnson’s learning curve? Do that many NASCAR fans tune in to watch race cars turn right?

The lady that presides during F1 practice sessions is good as well as occasional input from vets Button and Rosburg. IOW, no complaints from the voiceover commentators. MHO. Fortunately, the internet provides many points of view, fanboys to tech to history, something for most every F1 fan.

I take it back, some of their stuff has crofty on it (bummer). But they also have extra features post race, like recaps with a story (a bit like drive to survive - this latest one Ocon's race), and those include radio comm we never heard on TV between that driver they focus on and their engineer, etc.. It's fascinating to me to hear them figure stuff out. Great depth of info for the F1 Anorak that I am.

BTW I'm not asking anyone to get F1TV, where I was going with this is cable (and now YoutubeTv) are very expensive for what they are. You can now live quite well with netflix, Prime (if you count it, I get it for free shipping), some rabbit ears or extra apps.. The only thing bugging me was losing some motorsport. Well IMSA has imsa TV with full replays for endurance, WRC is free on Redbull TV, and I'm finding out F1TV is incredibly good for $8 a month. Tresure trove of new stuff that will keep me happy when bored over the summer break too (and archives to listen to V12s). I'm simply happy to halve my TV bill and get more stuff.. Will report on Spa race to see who is actually commenting ;-)

PS: Did I mention POrsche supercup ? (only twice?) oh !

Looks like Bottas is a pretty good cyclist too:

Japan GP has been cancelled due to a rise in Covid cases . F1 now looking for alternatives to fill that date .

Didn't they already add a second race in Austin?

NO
next year in miami is the 2nd USA race

I was looking for USGP tickets this morning. Pretty much sold out, Sunday only tickets will be released at later date. You can get single day tickets for Friday or Saturday, $49 and $100 respectively. But here's the kicker... no parking tickets remaining. And even those were pretty pricey and sold in 3-day increments anyway.

I was thinking of going on Friday but w/o parking my interest is on the decline.

So far the Australian and Japanese GP's have been cancelled so IF they want a full schedule they have to find other venues that can support . And who knows if there will be additional cancellations .

But hosting the Olympics wasn’t a problem?

Don't forget Singapore that was replaced by Turkey after Turkey was originally cancelled.

Hockenheim or The 'Ring anyone????

That sucks, especially for Honda as it's their home circuit

Doubly so, given that their engine finally became a winner.

I have a feeling that may be cancelled, too.

mattdavis11 08-18-2021 04:48 PM

Highly unlikely. Texas is open for business as usual.

You know the thought never crossed my mind until now. I live in Seguin, but lived in Austin when USGP first came to town. Why couldn't you break down (park) on shoulder of toll road and throw on the flashers. It's not that far of a walk. I know, I have customers on either side of the toll road on FM812. They cops might sticker it, but I wouldn't think it would get towed.

I sure hope not. I'm going with my brother and his daughter. First time we have gone to a race together in decades. The last F1 race I went to was the last one at Long Beach, when John Watson won from the back of the grid.

David 08-19-2021 05:26 AM

I have tickets and parking purchased and will most likely go but it's the same weekend as the Harvest Moon Regatta which I usually race in so...

The only Texas F1 race I've missed was in 2018 when I was still recovering from a broken neck and I've been kicking myself ever since for not going since it was one of the best ever!

I think the only way that occurs is if F1 cancels. As others have said, we are open for business. There are a few city and county leaders that oppose that but the gov and Lt Gov and AG are all on the open up train.
