Sadly it seems common decency is no longer common! I have used eBay to sell a lot of parts over the years and it now seems about 30% simply won't pay or even respond to you. Craigslist I expect tire kickers and jokers. I have typically found folks on enthusiast forums are trustworthy and understand that newbee's present a higher risk, but everyone has to start somewhere.

PS. I am a 50 year old newbee on this forum as I just purchased a '86 Carrera

Well, I gotta hand it to you, for only your second post, here, you’ve started off extremely well in my book. Welcome to the birdland and congrats on your new to you car. This is a great place overall. I’m just guessing here, but, as you mentioned your age, I’m betting NOT being such a tool is somewhat age defined - not always. Happy to do biz with you, assuming I list something you want.

I've been dealing with Datsun Z parts for more than 35 years, and have dealt with my fair share of ass hats. I did use Ebay many years ago, but never today as a seller. Around here, kijiji is our craigslist and that market brings all sorts of characters. I don't sell junk, and prices are reasonable. I used to fence with people sending low ball offers, but that got old fast. Now, I just delete them, not a second glance.
I also as a rule don't ship. If I do, small items only, small packages. Quoted shipping, tracking and 2x insurance (I'm covered too if item goes missing) payment up front always. No issues (yet)
People are asshats, I chose not to deal with that type. My parts are usually harder to come by than the cash to buy them so I chose to deal with the serious people only.

So, as a follow up, I get this from the pita newbie whom was the reason I started this thread to begin with:

“Not only did send you send me the handles without telling me but you didn't complete the information for the customs and I just received a huge fee because of it, your mistake juste cost me 50$. Really disappointed with this whole deal.”

And, my response:

“I filled out the forms as FedEx instructed. Sorry for the mistake but it wasn’t MY fault. If anything, my fault was dealing with you. You’ll not be happy on this forum, nor will you gain ANY respect in this community. Have a nice life.”

pm me if you want his username. I won’t out him here. IF you sell him any parts, I’m guessing you’ll regret it....

Try BUYING telescope gear! Everyone who just got a scope from their dead spouse/cousin/flipped house/storage unit/estate sale thinks they're worth 3 times the market price, AND they ALL say "runs good, great views, no power supply, don't know how to use this, what you see is what you get".

Um..."runs good" and "no power supply"? "Great views" and no eyepieces? Fungus on the corrector??? I had a Facebook lady cuss me out when I told here that I would offer literally 1/5th of what she was asking, and I woulda been doing her a favor.

I'm old. I no longer have ANY tolerance from newbies starting out here, especially those from out of the U.S. I'm tired of unsophisticated buyers b.tching about the costs of shipping, like I have ANY control (other than my 30% discount with FedEx) of what they charge. I'm tired of buyers getting all indignant over saying they want an item, and (MY mistake, I know) assuming they REALLY want it and I ship it out, as a favor, w/o giving them the price to ship and tell them AFTER I've taken the time to box it up, take it to the shipper, ship it, remember, they SAID they wanted it, and then give them the total and then they want to renegotiate the price. What's happened to common decency? I "thought" this community would be somewhat insulated from this type of behavior. Guess I was wrong. I know we all had to start somewhere. Maybe it was different when I joined up over 9 years ago? Well, because I'm old, or maybe because I'm not willing to waste my time anymore selling to newbies, I'm DONE selling to them. I don"t have to sell parts. I sure as hell don't do this for a living thankfully, and if I have something someone wants, I'll be happy to do so IF I recognize your username, or have dealt with you in the past or you've been around for more than 5 posts. I'm HAPPY to impart any knowledge I've gained through the years from here or the EarlyS, where I mainly hang out. Like I said, I'm old. Rant over......

You missed Festivus by a couple of weeks.
