skunked my car. Can't get it off
 

I smell this as soon as I walked up to my car thinking there's a skunk near by? After a couple days, the smell is still there. Upon looking closer, I see spots on all over the side. Took it to car wash, nothing. Washing it myself with alcohol and simple green, nothing. So what's the trick. I am suffering in the car for the first 5 min then I no longer smell it until the next time I get in.

Do a search for the home made dog wash for dogs sprayed by a skunk. It works on dogs. Our dachshund was hit twice last year by a skunk. We hired a skunk trapper, and he found the nest a couple hundred feet from our house. He trapped and took them away. It was a momma and 5 kits.

You will need to wax the car again after treatment.

Mixed together with a gallon or two of water? I just realized, this stuff is thick and caked up on there.

There's a product called Odoban that does a pretty good job eliminating the stank. I use it on machines that are used in turkey or cattle applications. It takes about two applications but the stank goes away.

Would it be prohibitively difficult to wash your car with tomato juice?

Did you drive over a skunk? If so, smell could be coming from stuff still in the wheelwells or underneath?

Get one of those foam cannon things. That way you can use it to wash your car properly later anyway. I use one every time I was the car. And then you can get a buffer for the spots.

Odoban works good on getting rid of the funk. I've had a few tenants that expired and were not found for awhile, and the guy that picks up the bodies uses Odoban.

No, it has not been driven in a few days. There's a big splatter over the rear door area on back that covers the whole car.

Look online for the formula, quart of peroxide, cup of backing soda, T of dish soap, not sure exactly, but you don't add water.

One year a few a couple of decades back on a PCA fall foliage tour in the middle of the day in a line of cars a middle car had the misfortune to have a skunk try to cross the road. Normally skunks only are seen at dusk or night so that was strange in itself. The unfortunate driver of a nice 911 hit the skunk, and the guts were thrown onto the heat exchangers and started baking themselves in place. The skunk spray sac was ripped open and covered the bottom of the car. It was a cool day so they were needed to run the heaters but were gagging.

He finally pulled over, and called for a flatbed tow back to his favorite repair shop. Some poor chap had to steam clean the bottom of the car several times and they let it idle for a few hours to cook off as much stink as possible.

He said ever a few year later if the car was left closed up when he first got in there was a hit of skunk and guts. He was ready to sell it to get a new 911 and he made sure to sell it in the spring with the windows down.

I had a skunk spray the plastic bedliner in my pickup.
