Dog chew toys - what a joke !

So we have had Luke for about two months now . He is a 10 month old shepherd/lab mix and chews like a beaver on steroids 😁 . Fortunately he only chews on his chew toys . We have two of the kong rubber toys they last a long time he hasn't damaged one yet .

The next best are the Nyla bone which come in a variety of shapes and sizes . They get knarly looking after about a week . Finally there are the various rope toys . Regardless of the size of the rope or how tightly it is wrapped Luke tears them apart within an hour ! We just got back from doing various shopping , we stopped at PetSmart for food and a toy . Bought a tightly wound heavy duty rope ball and gave it to Luke . 15 minutes later he was flossing 😀 there were strands of string everywhere 🙁 .

These items are NOT cheap and many don't last an hour . Just had to vent maybe I will let him play with an old garden tractor tire 😁

We like to put the all natural peanut butter in the black kongs for ours when he is outside.

My parents raised English Bulldogs as well as my brother and I. If one of them got hold of a golf ball they could strip it to the core in 5 minutes. Some had a steel ball bearing as the core, and some were a goo filled rubber bladder center.

They could destroy about anything given a chance.

Nyla-Bones are the best...I think.

Just be sure to take it away from the dog when it gets small enough to wedge in between his back teeth on the roof of his mouth.....(because it will)

STOP ..
NO ROPES..
or stringed stuff
they will eat those..
my Nicki ( Lab ) has thankfully passed or regurgitated..
some lengthy stuff..
and I'm currently looking for a neck gaiter..
Bowell obstructions go deadly fast ..
and if you get lucky..
will certainly be expensive..

ask your butcher for soup bones..

Our goldendoodle is the same way. Once he puts his mind to a toy, it's over. My wife bought him a round rubber ring for Christmas. He brought it in the living room and brought it back in 5 minutes later chewed in half.

I told my wife today we are not spending any more $$$ on rope toys . Nyla-Bone and similar are the way to go . I have heard horror stories of soup bones shattering with shards being swallowed . Anyone here have any experience with that ?

I buy my guys Tastybone https://www.tastybone.com/ supposedly it's not toxic rubbish from China and they seem interested, plus they last quite well.

Our Wheaten Terrier can rip apart a squeaky toy in 15 minutes. Keeps at it relentlessly until he gets out the squeaker, stuffing all over. My daughter bought him a rubber tire toy from Tractor supply and he shredded it also. Yet some stuffed animals he carries around carefully, like they are friends.

My wife, was re-stuffing and sewing his first toy back together for years....... until it was just a green bundle of cloth.

You are lucky.
Ours can destroy a Kong in a very short space of time.
He’s what you might call an aggressive chewer. Luckily he’s not into furniture.

This is the best one we've found.

Jack loves chewing on sticks so we figured this was the best alternative. He grabs these out of his toy basket first.

I had seen these online and wondered about them . Luke loves picking up sticks as we take walks , may have to consider these . Thanks

Dog chew toys - what a joke !

Our dogs love the nyla bones. Especially the dinosaur shaped ones. These are also a huge hit.

Rope and rawhide are a no go. Non cooked beef bones should be okay. Deer antlers can be too hard and can break teeth.

Ropes are a health hazard to your dog. Throw them away. Now.

Virgil is a pit terrier mix. Chewing things is his life's calling. Kongs, bones, typical dog chew toys are destroyed over time. This is the only one he has yet to put a dent in. Over a year old & still looks new. Frustrates him for hours. West Paw Quizl.
