Apple's new M1 chip computers
Has anyone bought a computer with one of Apple's new M1 chips? I had heard on the radio some time ago that the chip allows you run iPhone apps. Have not been able to confirm that.
I currently take pics of a customer's order, choose and color correct the ones I want to use, on my iMac, then load them back into Photos, wait for them to sync, which takes a while with 15,000 pics in the library, so I can then post them on Instagram. It's a huge hassle. If one of the new M1 chip Macs can do all of that from one computer, I will buy one.

you’re trying too hard;
Select the photos in your phone and “airdrop” then to your downloads folder, or desktop, etc. Don’t have to sync. You must be on the same network and have Bluetooth turned on the phone and the iMac. Correct them with something besides “photos.” Maybe photoshop elements? Maybe even “preview.” Depending on how detailed you’re getting. someone here knows a good freebie app. Log in to Instagram on your web browser and post.

The whole process is: Take pics with digital camera Upload them to iMac Color correct in Preview and Photoshop as needed, rename 1, 2, etc. Delete originals in Photos Upload corrected pics back to Photos Wait 10 minutes to sync Create FB posts, copy description text and hashtags Email them to myself On phone, copy emailed text Open IG Select pics Paste copied text Post Drives me mad and I post 25% of what I should on FB and IG

Cool, thanks Mike. The new chip is apparently pretty spectacular.

Yes like masraum I think what I'm trying to get at is you -don't have to go back to your phone at all, you can log into insta and facebook from your imac. As such you can eliminate the "photos" app from your process altogether, particularly if you're not even using it to edit.
And I apologize for skipping your original question. Apparently the M1 macs are great but I don't think you need to get a new computer for this problem.

![]() I will get an M1 Mac Mini and a 48" screen for the parts layout table room though. Being able to see 500 pieces of hardware better when sorting after plating will pay for itself in a few months. Been using two 27"s and they are pretty small in the end. Anyone have recommendations on a 4K 48" monitor?

Shaun, you can set up Photoshop to apply a certain color correction automatically to all photos taken with a certain camera.
also why can't you post the pics on IG directly from your computer? That would cut out the last few steps. You can also put photos up into iClod* automatically and they will be available to your iMac. The idea is that Apple will make MacOS and iOS more interoperable over time with different releases. M1 makes this easier for them, and adds $$ instead of letting Intel siphon * add a u if you like this - it warns it will kill off a bunch of your pics, so I never tired it |

I will have to look into that with Photoshop, thanks.
My 15K pics are in the Cloud which is why, I think, it's so slow to update. I have to say, I really miss Steve Jobs, a lot.

Isn't "I want it," justification enough?

You guys are all correct. And "Photos" and "Preview" both suck donkey balls for managing photos.
And yes, I miss Steve Jobs. |
