I never knew,
That the Capitol was spelled with and "o", at first I thought it was a misspelling. Now I know, Capital and Capitol have a very different meaning. The stuff one can learn on this forum amazes me. PS: I am a very poor speller.

I remember my grade school teacher drilling that into us.
I went to a two-room school from K thru 5 I graduated 5th grade with 6 other students.

I'll probably get kicked off for this, (I think I'm on some sort of probation)
but I want to offer my condolences to my southern neighbors for what happened at the Capitol last week. My wife and I were very saddened by this. |

In about 4th grade I learned that "capitol" is the building because the building has a dome. There's an "o" in both.

I had to look it up.
Capitol only ever refers to a building. Capital can refer to money, excellence, or execution. You can raise capital, have a capital idea, or be executed for a capital offense. |

Capitol is the building, the O is like the dome on top of it. At least, that is how I learned it back in grade school.
