So don't defer happiness, plan for tomorrow but live today. |
I agree that genetics (in my opinion) is at the root of these conditions. I've had high cholesteral (282) since first tested in my early thirties. I've been on medication(s) since my forties when it tested at 319. I've had reactions to two of the four statins I've taken. One (Mevacor) didn't have any effect on my level. I had adverse reactions to two, and seeing what will happen on the current one. Between stopping my last statin and starting my current one, my level shot up to 358. Like I said, I'm trying the intermittent fasting and waiting to see how my A1c is reacting to it. I know it won't have any effect on my cholesterol.

I'm diabetic. Went from an A1c of 11.3 to 5.8 at last blood drawn. Meds help but even with meds you need to watch what you eat and exercise. Diabetes may shorten your life but if you think about it, none of us is guaranteed tomorrow.
Example, I have had 3 friends in my life that died at an early age. One died at age 55, the other two died at age 42. All 3 were non drinkers, non smokers and athletic. All ate nonfat diets. One died from cancer in his brain, one died from skin cancer (he was outdoors all the time, worked construction) and the other died from dehydration from the flu. Enjoy your life to the fullest. Laugh. Love. Walk away from people that want to argue with you. |

In high school as a junior I rode the bus to school with a kid that lived a few blocks from my house. He turned 15 and that was old enough to get a motorcycle license. He was in front of our bus when and he pulled out in front of a 18 wheeler and was flattened and killed. It was his mistake, and it was a deadly mistake. His was the first funeral I ever went to. |
