ADT Mandatory Cell Radio Update Issue
We have ADT and got an email indicating there is a mandatory update to the cell radio inside our panel. The reason is 3G will be discontinued. The technician came and installed the new radio module. Then the issues began. In the early morning hours (2, 3 and 1AM) on different, almost successive, days the alarm would go off with the reason of "TAMPER". After escalating a couple levels of technician it looks like the "upgraded" radio doesn't work well and a whole new panel will need to be installed. This could be linked to ADT buying CellBounce. I don't know. In any case I was wondering if anyone else in Pelican Land is having the same issue. For now I will not be arming the system because I don't like being woke up.

Sounds to me (no pun) that you need to levy some pressure on ADT. They are licensed CA contractors so that's a start. Just informing them of your 'intentions' may move them to act right.
Yelp and the BBB ae so crooked you can screw them into the ground, so don't waste your time. If you happen to have an attorney on retainer, send the letter. |

I had mine done a few months ago and have had no issues. I would think maybe a bad install or bad hardware. I would ask ADT to come look at it. In the past, I have a good experience when calling for hardware issues.

Have ADT set the alarm to go off, but not notify until they correct their problem. In the event of a break-in you want the sirens to turn on.
You may also have an insurance issue, so do not disable the fire/sprinkler portion.

Interesting update. I just got a letter from ADT informing me that I now own the equipment compared to the original contract that says they (ADT) owns the equipment. This might be a ploy to sell me or "make" me buy a service contract.

Get off my lawn!

I started with a small locally owned alarm company. They were bought by a bigger company and then ADT bought them. ADT told me the owned the equipment and I said poppycock, it was mostly put in by the builder of the house, and I paid for the additional equipment.
I recently started with some issues with the console battery alerting me it was low. So I replaced it. It sent alerts telling me the batty was low and then all the sensors at once said low battery and most are powered by the main panel. Now a few days after the all clear, the battery is fine I get warnings it is low. When they came out last time they replaced the cell board to the new standard. If the dang system keeps beeping and warning me the new battery is low, fully charged and then low again I may well change to a different provider.
