What's your claim to fame.

Doesn't matter what it is. What have you done better than the others? What gave you your 15 minutes? What is interesting, unique, famous that you have done.

While I was working as a heritage interpreter at the tidal power facility in Annapolis Royal, I ended up on camera many times. Sometimes people would research the facility before their visit and would tell me they had seen my explanation on TV.
I remember presenting to the US undersecretary for energy. He was a nice guy accompanied by two hard looking guys with guns. :D

I won a prize for best Halloween costume once. I was the "Cat in a Hat with a cone d.ck"... But it wasn't the costume that won it for me! It was the guitar solo at the end of Prince's Let's Go Crazy when I was rockin out on the floor using my cone d.ck as the guitar that solidified the win. There might have been beer involved in that..

But the best part was when the girl I knew that was doing the announcing of the winner asked "What is your costume" and I told her. She announced me by the title above as the winner.
So the costume was a cat in the hat hat, a wig that looked like Slash's hair from GNR and a clown cone hat strapped around my waist.

According to Google scholar, 6750 citations of papers I wrote or contributed to, and a dozen issued US patents. I’ve spoken at international conferences, on topics that would bore the hell out of most of you .

Well then let me say that I was once blown off an enduro single track by Jack Penton. :D

I got to ski gates head to head against Franz Klammer once. Actually, my buddy running the pro race asked me to so the camera guys could set up for the best angles. Klammer just loafed through to loosen up and familiarize with the course. I skied my ass off just to keep up with his leisurely warm up. For the real race I was asked to ski jackets down for the real racers ha ha

I shook Brian Johnson's hand at VIR.

I hit a grand slam home run to win the game for our team after a two year losing streak in pee-wee baseball. That was big stuff for a tike.

I would have to say my expertise in Unimog restoration, and the business created by it.

I think 'fame' is when more than 10 million people can recall your name in a conversation.

Leon Russell wrote,
"I've been so many places in my life and time...
I've acted out my life in stages
With ten thousand people watching..."

Not everyone knows who Leon Russell was.

Definition of fame /fām/ noun:
the state of being known or talked about by many people, especially on account of notable achievements.

I think many is understated.

I have no fame, given that definition.

I certainly know who Leon Russell was. Huge respect.

I hold a one-of-a-kind position in state government which is mentioned a number of times in statute. I have singular and broad authority to make decisions which affect the distribution of a portion of several billion dollars in annual public spending. Many quarrels between management and labor, and between labor organizations, come to me and my signature settles them. I testify, often enough, at deposition and hearings. I am very well-known in a robust industry across the state. I'm tired of it. I just want to be a retired gentleman with some time on my hands for hobbies and whatever else I want to do. Fortunately, retirement is imminent.
