Monopoly vs Easy Money

At a friends place Saturday night...four of us and a board game was suggested.
They had both games and I was the only one that liked Easy Money. I remember it as being easier to acquire cash fast. (we ended not playing either one!)

Competitor games by different companies...both came out in 1935 Hasbro and Milton Bradley.

Which is your favorite?...if you have one.

The last time I played monopoly I was done with the game before it was over.

Never played easy money.

That last game, Dad had rolled the dice into an amazing set of books and properties.
But it got late at night, and we decided to finish in the morning.
My eldest brother got the idea that we could all trade money by selling and rebuying the water works for a large sum and then a small sum to keep us from going bankrupt if we hit something big.

We transfered our few properties as best we could into books.

Then each time around there were three brothers collecting 200.
One dad collecting 200.
The property advantage dissapeared, and the transfer of money when needed kept us going.
We'd also sit in jail as long as possible, cutting money supply to dad if we hit a property while rolling.

it was silly, it was stupid, it worked.
We ended up not finishing the game after knocking dad out.
And I've never played since.

I can't say it was a copy-cat thing because they both came out the same year.
Maybe it's a regional thing because I remember as many families having Easy Money as Monopoly around here.

Somewhat similar properties and strategies on each.

It's 85 years old...not quite as old as checkers.

^^^ Never played that one. 1973
Backgammon a few times. Most of the people I knew played Cribbage or Euchre. (both great games)

Here's another vintage board game, if you're into that.

It's for two people. As a kid it taught me to use logic.

I have played that one before. It came out in 1970
Somewhat similar to Battleship...if I remember correctly.
