Well if I had pet coyotes, I'd shoot the cats.

There, is that better? Or did I just make it worse?

We have had this guy for 4 years and he’s a good cat, very smart. We took this cat from the shelter because they couldn’t otherwise find a suitable home for him - he bites. He is very affectionate and when you pat him, he purrs and purrs and purrs, and then sometimes he BITES really, really hard, and then keeps on purring like nothing happened.

He knows the routine and goes to bed every night when we call him. He has a warm place to sleep at night, unlike most other farm cats.

We had one like that. One day he picked the wrong guy to suddenly attack while being petted.... That cat immediately got to go for a long swim in the middle of my pond..... First time I ever saw a cat swim. Little bastard drew blood and left me with some cat scratches.

The shed happens to be our water building which has our cistern and the pressure switch for the well pump as well as the jet pump that feeds the house from the cistern.

This summer, Blizzard (the cat), figured out how to remove the cover from the cat door and escape during the night. I dealt with this by rigging up a 1” x .25” cross bar over the cat door cover that is held in place with a hair pin on each side. Numerous times, we have gone to let him out in the morning to find the cover lifted up half way but not enough for el bastardo to escape.

His latest trick is opening the man door. I have no idea how he turns the knob, but he does. We come out in the morning to find the door open.

put a game cam in there set to video - HIDE IT and don't tell wife/gf/daughters about this

I have a solution for the -40c just drive to Trans Can HY#1 and head west until you get to water then stop. It is cold here about -1c right now.

Pretty smart cat if it actually opened the door, he is probably just looking for something to keep him occupied, any other barn cats you can put in there with him? We had a cat that would sit on the countertop and place a paw on the door knob trying to open, he knew that was the way out but could not turn it.

We had a long term house cat that we adopted declawed. Milo got cancer after 14 or so years and we put him down last summer. He was constantly hunted by Blizzard whenever he was outside. I’m not sure Blizzard wants company.

I hate people that hate cats. I had a co worker that when he went fishing on his boat he would shoot the Dolphins that came up to the boat with a 357 magnum revolver. Then came to work and brag about it. Then a few years ago he lost Control of both kidneys and asked to be on permanent dialysis in the veterans hospital. When I heard about this, it made me smile and I went to Chili’s and had margaritas and baby back ribs to celebrate.

Taking joy in another persons misfortune? Yes what he did is horrific, but your response is equally so.

Welcome to ignore DB.

That was a cry for help from someone who undoubtedly has two Sesame seeds (or maybe just one!) and a grain of rice swangin'! :)

We worked next to the bay and this guy would go on top of all the buildings and smash the seagulls eggs. Just because he hated them. He can’t walk now. Joy!

I don’t think anyone who has posted in this thread hates cats. You are the only one who has expressed hate red toward anyone - your coworker.

Life is too short to celebrate the misfortune of others.

I've had cats almost my entire life. I like cats. All their actions start to make sense once you understand that they are apex, psychotic predators.

Cats are jerks (or can be). I've had cats that would open doors, turn on/off lights for attention, bite your feet to wake you up, knock stuff off the top of the dresser when they wanted out, hide your keys when they want you to play instead of go to work...

I've also had cats that would protect the baby from visitors, warn when strangers were at the door, and chase dogs out of the yard...

Nothing is more filthy than a person who is cruel to animals

Geez, humans seem like they are a dumber version of cats.

fanaudical 02-13-2021 02:10 PM

Yep - There are days I'd rather hang around with my cats than be with people...

When I was a kid we had this a-hole cat named Sambo. He would lurk in the entryway, and when my dad sat on the sofa in his favorite spot reading the evening newspaper, the cat would charge and come crashing through the newspaper tearing it into pieces. As Dad got wise, the cat changed tactics. He snuck up behind the sofa and jumped on Dad's head. Then he learned which door Dad used to go to work in the morning. He would ambush people as they left the house.

Then one morning my dog Toto was sitting on the side of the road, 4 houses away. He would not leave that one spot. It turned out that Sambo was hit by a car and my dog was lying next to his body. My dog mourned the death of his friend. He was genuinely heartbroken, as were we all.

It takes 7 swords to kill a bull in a bullfight. Horrible, cruel death. But!!! Once in a while a bull will run his horn right through a matador to the other side!!! Again, a smile. Presidente margaritas at Chili’s!!!!

Cats serve no function other than pest control.

my best barn cat was a crazy expensive toyger (look it up) that my kids bought me. Only issue was that he marked anywhere another male was, so, well, he couldn't stay in the house. But he loved the barn, and he loved me and it was all good. Except he was still a cat. He'd come to me the minute I walked into the barn and purr and rub and let me pet him...for an indeterminate length of time, and then he'd rake me as best he could.
Cause, he was a cat. Sort of like the snake in the fable.

Nick Triesch 02-13-2021 05:17 PM

Your statement proves cats are better than people. Hurting a cat or dog is a felony.
