I can fully understand that.
Years ago when my cat had kittens I would let them out and for some reason they would run out into the street and get run over.
The mother cat would just bow her head because she knew the outcome.
It was sad but they do get over it.

Easier for them than me.

Those that have cats that attack them, try getting a second cat. Ours would violently attack your legs when you got up in the middle of the night, or chew on your hand when you pet him.

Turns out he was bored and had pent up energy. Got a second cat, and now they play together, wear each other out, and almost instantly the biting and attacking stopped.
Cats have tough thick skin, so when they bite each other nothing really happens, but we have soft thin skin and they don't know how to deal with it.
