Magnus Walker-Passe or very much relevant?

Is Magnus still a force to be reckon with or has he diminished in the last few years...other words Is he still relevant? just a thought -would like to see what others think-no right or wrong answer-just observations.

I had a customer in here the other day. As soon as he saw the Porsches, he went nuts talking about Magnus . Like I have never heard of him before . This guy had some kind of infatuation with him .
I think he has delivered the marque to the eyes of a lot of people who never looked at Porsche before .

I agree some people have an unhealthy infatuation with him, but your point about him exposing the brand to many people is spot on.

fastfredracing - I couldn't agree more. There have been 2 phenomenon that forever changed our hobby by bringing in investors and big money that have driven the prices of our cars way up. 1.) Singer. 2.) Magnus Walker.

Magnus used to be on Pelican but was driven off by angry comments that I just don't understand. He's a fashion designer that has done well by creating clothing that is different and interesting. If he looked and acted like everyone else, his clothing designs would also be normal and boring - and he would not have made enough money to get into Porsches as much as he has.

I think he would be a great contributor here on Pelican - but that's just not going to happen now.

I see Magness Walker as a self-made man who has a passion for Porsche (and fine cars in general) and who has means to share his passion and life story with others. I enjoy seeing what he has done with his cars. I like his encouragement to others to make their Porsches their own and customize as they see fit. I'd like to meet him some day to talk cars. I do think it's a shame that he's no longer part of the Pelican community; I liked his contributions when he was here.

Is he still relevant? I think he's as relevant as any of us who share what we've done with our 911's.

Magnus deserves every dollar he's made.

A really nice guy who kept true to himself despite success and tragedy. He's pretty much the same guy he was 20 years ago. Im sure he doesnt give a **** if he thinks hes relevant or not.

Well stated. He built 911s to fit his vision, and I see absolutely nothing wrong with that. His vision of the perfect 911 is far from mine, as I live where it get really hot and cold so I demand good creature comforts of air conditioning and heaters, and tires that can be driven safely in the rain at highway speeds.

I would like to meet him and see his stuff, but I don't personally care for the multi color cars and his style. I can appreciate his way, it just ain't my way. That is what makes the world interesting. It would suck if everyone drove box stock from the factory Silver cars.

I've met him a few times. Seems like a legitimately nice dude. COngrats to him on finding a way to combine his Porsche passion and make some USD in the process. I like some of his stuff, but not all. Relevant? Yeah, I think so. Would I run his parts (steering wheel's, etc.) on my 911? Not unless there is real benefit to them.

I have met him a few times also. He shows up occasionally at Porsche related events around Los Angeles. Pelican cars and coffee, PCA LA concours events, Porsche Experience Center LA cars and coffee, etc. Very laid back, approachable.

He's not just a Porsche guy. Over the years I've bumped into him at the Long Beach Grand Prix, Father's Day car show on Rodeo Drive, TRE canyon runs, and even just trundling along in rush hour traffic on the Ventura Fwy. Like you mention, he's always been a gracious and inclusive guy, even before he became internet famous. We should all be so fortunate to quit our day jobs and play with cars for the rest of our lives.
