Google map. HTF to get rid of drop pin for ever?

Drive me freaking nuts.

Is there a way to stop of get rid of Latest IN The Area? Every freaking time I open the map. I see people's pics of places they recommend in the local area. Is that a place I can just go to without everyone's BS and pictures. All the local BS from restaurant and dessert shop pops up. I got lost out in the desert today and all I got was this BS. If I left my finger on the screen for just 1/2 second longer, the goddamn drop pin appears then the place covers half the screen. Know of a way to just have a simple map, no need for voice telling me how far and which lane to turn.

I use Waze for driving.

Lots of map options and you can silence the chatter.

The APP also remembers past destination and they are very easy to pull up.

I will have to give it a try. I don't use any map aide for driving.

Waze has a lot of neat features, especially the warnings for speed traps, traffic, etc.

In the DC area I could not live without the driving instructions...especially when we did a lot of travel to Northern Va and Baltimore. It is a mess here and the turn by turns are invaluable.

One last little thing: You can change the voice of the Waze verbal prompts. I mix them up, from Top Gear, to a female Australian and beyond
