It’s a long shot but anyone I in Victoria, B.C. (Near Vancouver, B.C.) willing to put eyes on a car?

Thanks in advance.

Victoria is a $150 round trip ferry ride from Vancouver. I went to university in Victoria and have friends there. My dad lives about an hour north. They just had a big snow storm there.

What is the car?

Ya. The seller said the same thing about the snow and that Victoria owns next no snow moving equipment. He seems like a good guy but would really rather not get burned.

The car is an early E28 BMW. Per the seller, it is in very good condition but I’ve no way to see it myself. The images sent appear promising...but pics are not eyes.

Thanks!

I can ask my dad if he can go have a look once the snow melts.

There are some Indy shops there. The guys at Autospiel are good guys, I’ve raced against them for over 10 years. https://autospiel.ca/race-team/

Thanks unclebilly! The owner says he has a hillclimb car so that shop may already know him and maybe the car. I'll try to call them today and let you know what I find out.

Pavulon,

Is that the 518? I can possibly get there and take a look later in the week.

But 1.8l with an auto, yikes!! At the moment my 3.5 is still an auto and feels slow, I did find a 5 speed though. If you are thinking 3.5 conversion a bunch of things are different, master cylinder is assisted by the power steering pump and rear discs are stock on the 533/535.

Yes. The owner and I have agreed to terms but I was unable to call the shop recommended by unclebilly. I REALLY don't want to get burned but that car seems to have a lot of potential for wonderful BMW 6/getrag fun or intoxicating LS/tremec power and reliability. Have been watching for quite awhile years but all the E28s for sale down here in the states have diving board bumpers or marginal euro converstions or rust or... . I want to start with a great euro car and go from there. What do you think about it?

From the pic's the car does look really good, not many pics of the lower doors from my past cars that is an area that shows rust pretty early. The rear valance to quarter panel joint looks different than my US spec car but probably factory, not sure.

If you have an agreement with the owner and you want me to take a look I can arrange that, I assume the car is indoors hopefully on a lift?

EDIT I looked up the part numbers and the quarter panel and tail panel are different to my 1987.

That’s a wonderfully kind offer. The seller seems to be a genuine guy and has a shop with a few cars in it and appears to have a 2 post lift. He has a few projects and says this car came from Japan. The seller bought it after the previous Canadian owner passed away. The seller is going to prep and install the later rear suspension and brakes before I take delivery in the spring.

If you know what day you’d be there, I can ask the seller if he’d be willing to let you have a look.

Pelican brotherhood delivers! Thanks again!

I bought a 911sc in Florida (I live in NY). The seller and Inset up a video call and he showed me everything I wanted to see. It was very helpful. Not 100% the same as in person but as close as I could get under the circumstances. No surprises once I took delivery.

That’s good suggestion as well. Thank you.
