New Balance, covid?

I went down to my back yard to change yard light's bulb. Rock cut my shoe so off to the New Balance store with my kid this afternoon only to discovered there's one person waiting at the door to get in. Ok, I wait. When it was our turn, guy told me that one of us can go inside. I said, he's my kid? I am told that only 8 people are allowed inside the store including the 3 employees. This is a 3500sq' store, WTH? I see no one inside, isles are completely empty. What the hell are they thinking? Is this city's new covid ordnance? After waiting for another 15 min, we were allowed inside only to find out that's New Balance's policy at the register. All the employees were just hanging out doing nothing but picking their noses. I almost want to put both our shoes back. Anyone experience this crap?

I went to a store that sells auto body supplies. I needed a tube of seam sealer. No one was allowed to go inside. I had to stand outside and tell him what I want. It seems there are many options with seam sealer, and I didn't know what I really wanted. I was expecting I would peruse the various products on the shelf and determine what I needed that way. I hope I got the best stuff for my needs. I'm not going there again. There's a similar store (a Finish Master) 5 miles farther away that let's you go inside and shop properly.

Some places are tight like that others not. My local hardware store is "Hiya come on in!" but all employees are masked, there is sanitizer everywhere and they're happy to load you up at the curb. This is a small family owned ACE.

I called the NB store the other day for my standard NB shoe (1540v3).

Nope, we don't have them. Well, how about the Fairlawn store? Nope, and we can't get them in. Is it covid? Don't know.

Was walking through a mall in Detroit and I noticed a huge line of people standing shoulder to shoulder in a line of about 100 people.
They were waiting to get into a Hollister store which would only allow 10 at a time.

Twice as likely to catch the virus from standing in the line.

Paint jobber in Akron was doing that last year but not now.

Went to a big salvage yard in Canton today to pick up a part. 30+ foot long counter. Eight guys serving customers. Not one had a mask on.

There are people who still go to shoe stores ?
Do you know your shoe size?
Next time, try Amazon.

It might have something to do with shoe sales. I went to REI in Burbank a few months ago, saw a long line outside. I asked the gal who was monitoring it how long the wait would be. She asked if I was there to buy shoes, I told her no just looking at kayak paddles. She said "Go right in".

We had this everyone in one door then leaving by another. I don't quite see what this achieves, but whatever. Then they wanted me to sign the book - I said "I'm not touching THAT pen."

Ha, a point of contact between 200 people and they want me to touch it.

I had the same thing happen to me the other day. We don't take cash, card only. Need to beat covid so I am told at a take out place. After I run my card, he tells me to sign and pointed at the pen. At this ppoint, I wanted to be a pain in his ass so I said, I am touching that pen, we need to slow down covid and my card is good just like my cash. He refuse to process my order, so I demanded a hand cleaner before I touch that pen. People don't think anymore.

Close interaction is riskier.

Buying shoes online is not a good idea.

Tell them to cancel the order. Watch things change.

It only works for me if I am buying the exact same shoes as the ones I have. Last year, I ordered a slightly different model from the same maker (Under Armor) and even that was a bust as the sizing was not even close (same listed size but the shoes were way too tight) - gave up on that idea.
