Baby Names?

We're working through the adoption process of a baby girl that has been our care.

We're at the point where we feel confident enough that things are going to go through that we're trying to decide on her new name.
For some reason we can't come to a consensus on this one. Maybe because we're letting the other kids give input? It's never been this hard before...

That brings me here for suggestions.
We like somewhat unique names. Not odd, but not one's you'll hear often.
Old fashioned maybe?
Deep rooted meaning?
Finnish, Danish, or Hebrew? (With meaning, explanation)

Let's hear what you've got...

BTW, she has the cutest round face and I am sure she is going to be a Ginger.

Sorry, no pics. I've already gotten my hand slapped for posting kid pics.

My granddaughters are named Ella, Sophia (Sophy) and Elizabeth (Liz) all names that also belonged to famous actresses of the past. I bring that up because you can go crazy with the process until you pare it down to a group like politicians or waitresses you've know.

I'd stay away from old girlfriend names.

This is where we ended up as well. Somewhat uncommon, without being a trendy name with a ridiculous spelling. Will also sound "right" throughout life's various stages.

Don't name her Karen!

I feel sorry for all the normal ladies named Karen that suddenly have their name become a name of derision.

Names you don't hear much any more:

Bertha,
Gertrude
Florence.
Hazel

Four of my relatives have those names.

Hank is a no-go...

I like Ella, Sophia, and Elizabeth. Totally agree on staying away from old girlfriends names...

Thanks Paul, I know an Arden. Signs her name as RD.

No suggestions for names but just wanted to congratulate you and your wife. I have always admired those who adopt a child and give that baby a great shot at a great life.

All girls named Jennifer are babes. just sayin ...

Serial: if you have a family tree or history, go back a generation or six and pick a family name.

Jennifer... That may fail the Zeke rule.

Yes, not a dumb question, she does have a name. Not one we picked, not one we would have even considered. So we get to pick our own.

I see a female PA named Spencer.

Probably has a 'name' but time to change it is now at the adoption.

Hannele is a Finnish girls name that means grace.

I'm part Finnish so i'm a little biased. We used Hannele for my daughters middle name.
